Anyone tried one one of those paint on bedliners? If so what kind of success and or failures did you have? They seem like a very economical choice vs. the spray on types?

they don’t last, they flake and peel off!! Linex is the way to go. Just my 2 cents

The biggest reason they fail is because you basically have to take all the paint off first. Rhino or Linux are great. You do have to pay a for it though. I am pretty sure these companies sandblast the bed before they put on their product. Good luck.

Thanks for the post, I am actually getting my liner put on Tuesday. I am getting a Rhino lining for 399 + tax. IN tlaking with the guy it seems as though the put about 1/8 inch of “stuff” on. I will let you know how it goes.

Stick with Rhino or Linex the “do it yourself” kit isn’t worth the money. I know to have it professionaly done may be 3-4 times the cost. My son has done it twice if you use the bed for hauling anything it will peel wear off and look like hell. Good Luck.

Line-X isn’t all it is cracked up to be either One of the work trucks has it and has been back for warranty work twice in under 6 months. This truck was brand new when it was taken in and sprayed with the Line-X. But, anything is better than nothing if you are trying to protect the bed

I emailed Rhino earlier about this same question because my boat is raw aluminum and has white oxidation spots all over.(Should of kept it out of the salt water) The technition gave me a response of “they will media blast before they install the liner” but for now I haven’t jumped yet. I’m still trying to decide if Nuvite aluminum cleaner is worth the money and effort for the outside. Mainly the $300 cyclo power-tool, or just paint the thing.

Ok, I don’t understand what all the hype is about the spray on or..paint on bedliners…
I use those heavy duty plastic ones..that are fit by make/model. To me, spray something on, that you can never take off, is just like denting/scratching the whole thing up anyways….you’ll never get to see that nice new paint again.

Where as with the plastic, you can take it out, when you show it for sale..and it looks really nice…
    Just what I do…

    hey luke,
The problem with your plastic liner is that it moves and can (will) scratch the bed. The spray in liner (quality job) works as a protectantfrom scratches and dent. It also looks good to have a uniform coating throughout the bed. Just my thoughts while I should be sleeping!

Yes, I should be as well…but…
Mine do not move around, I had one in a 02 F250 turbo…it was attached…it didn’t “just slide/fit in”..anyways…took that out the other day for the first time, not a scratch…

You can not take off the spray on, correct?
Only in my opinion now…that would seem the same as putting rhino on a ranger…it will protect it, but the paint you are protecting, you will never see again..

Correct, you cannot take off a spray in liner.

Its not for paint protection as it is to help a little with preventing dents in the sheetmetal. It also looks good even after items have been hauled. Items not tied down don’t slide as easy compared to a drop in.

I had a spray in in my last truck, haven’t done this one yet. I would not use the do it yourself kit. I saw one, it looked terrible.
