The spawning season for Bluegills start in late may and goes into early August (peak spawning is normally June) at a water temps from 67-80 degrees. The males will show up first to build the spawning nest. You can tell they are getting close when the males start chasing everything away.

With a water temp of only 60 on pool 8 right now, it will be awhile yet. Ponds will warm up faster.

June 6-15 is usually when I targer spawning gills. Some years earlier some years it runs later for the “peak”. However, bluegill have the ability to spawn several times during the summer if they need to. Occasionally in July and August you will find some spawning fish again.
