I am looking at adding another fish finder to my boat. I have heard that using the same frequency transducers can cause interference between each other, but I was wondering if anyone has tried using a tranducer that works at 192 KHZ and another that works at 200 KHZ. My question is: is the frequency of the transducers far enough appart that interference will not be a problem??

    Jags,
I’m no authority, but from what I’ve heard that small difference in frequency will still cause interference problems. I believe you need to go to 50khz and 200khz to avoid the frequency interference problems. I have haerd that having different degree transducers can help to some extent in helping to keep the cones from overlapping, but I’m sure some with better info will chime in here.

You will still get interference in water over 15 feet.

Emover is right, the 192 and 200 KHZ is too close together. Pinpoint is about the only one I know of that runs both frequencies together without problems, the transom transducers are 200KHZ and the trolling motor transducers run at 192KHZ….BUT Pinpoint does something a little different when you network their units together. All the transducers fire in-sync (at the same time) which does away with the interference. I have 2 200KHZ transducers on the transom and run the trolling motor with 5 transducers in the nosecone at the same time, with all the info going to 4 different displays, and am able to pull up any 3 transducers on any screen in the boat.

Good God, I think my brain just exploded on that one.

I agree with these guys. 192 and 200khz is too close. Lowrance, Eagle, and Garmin offer a 50khz option but you lose some definition at 50khz. Humminbird and Vexilar offer some other frequencies as well.

Your other choice is to run the 2 units at 200khz and vary your ping rate on one unit. If you can get them to ping at different rates, then you can reduce interference quite a bit.

Thanks for the info guys. I can see now, that I will have to make my choice carefully.
