Having a small (I think)problem with my ‘new to me’ boat. I am having a problem getting fuel from the gas tank to the motor. This wasn’t a problem when before I purchased the boat as we had it running for a good 15 minutes. Now, when I squeeze the bulb, it stays soft and isn’t putting any fuel into the motor. I bought a complete new mercury brand hose assembly to run from the tank to the motor and have it on the correct direction but it still does the same thing. When I squeeze the bulb I can hear air oozing out somewhere inside the motor cover. I have pulled the cover off but can’t pinpoint exactly where the air is coming out of. I am assuming this is very minor as when it gets a small amount of fuel, the motor fires right up. Anyone have this problem before or know of how to find out exactly what my problem is? I would really appreciate any help as I plan on going fishing all weekend and really need my outboard to be running. And yes, the valve is open on the fuel tank. It is a 1989 25hp electric start tiller. Thanks in advance. Rookie

It appears you have an air breech at your coupler on the motor. If air escapes, you cannot pressurize the system. Just an assumption as I cannot see it.

You have an air breach, probably at the coupler to the motor. I have the same thing right now with my kicker, just get a new coupler from the gas hose to the motor, should be it. I have one for mein, just always forget to put it on.

Problem fixed. The gas pick up tube inside of the fuel tank must have fell off. Put it back on and she runs like a raped ape now. Was really sratching my head over it though. Thanks guys.
