Beckman. Not cheap but just about unbreakable and the hook-free net bag is nice.

I just bought a Beckman after breaking yet another hoop off my Frabill. It still seems a bit awkward to handle because it is heavier than the Frabill and the net drags more in the water but overall I like it very much. The hook free net works well and it has a lifetime warranty on the yolk so if/when I break it it will be replaced.
By the way I have a telescopic handle for a Frabill. If anyone is in need of one give me a holler.

I would also recommend a Beckman. I will tell you that they are not industructable. I had about 60 pounds of carp in one and I put a nice little bend in the handle. It didn’t break though.

BUY A BECKMAN. THE BEST THERE IS. GET THE COATED NET, NOT RUBBER NET BUT COATED. ALSO RECOMEND THE EXTENSION HANDLE STRONGLY, COMES IN VERY HANDY WHEN TROLLING AND REACHING BACK TO LAND BEHIND THE MOTOR INSTEAD OF IN THE MOTOR. FF

Beckman is the best net I have ever seen and used. And with the handle extention they are fanastic for netting fish. If you want a real good one this is the way to go in my mind.
    Thanks, Bill

Has anyone tried the Stowaway nets?

The Favorite wife bought one for me a couple years ago for walleyes…haven’t used it yet…but wondering how this compared to a Beckman?

Price will run $75 on up. I think the model I have set me back about $110. It has an extendable handle that will run out over 8′ if I remember right. My handle and yoke is over 6 years old and has put more than a fish big fish in the boat.

Ganders and Cabelas will carry them. Most big bait shops will have a selection although you might find the pickings a little limited once you get away from the mega-retailers.

The best place to buy one in my opinion is at a sports show. You can handle all the available models and get a great price.

    Briank,

I really like my Stowaway. I comes with a case and will neatly store in a lockable compartment. No worries about it blowing out or theft. It is quite sturdy and has a handle that extends. Since it folds in 1/2 there is obviously an additional spot that could fail, but I have had no problems and would certainly get another. It also has a coating on the net to help keep hooks from getting caught in it.

I like the Frabill Tru-Trax net. Also like the Cabela’s Pro Series trolling net. Both under $40. I have a hard time justifying more for a Beckman. I’m lucky to get more that 2 seasons out of any net before is grows wings and flies out of the boat or grows legs and walks away….

I just purchased a $120.00 Backman for $70 at Gander, because my 7 year old Frabill net was looking like the netting was not going to make it another year. The Beckman is sturdy as a brick wall, but I do like my Frabill better as it is easier to handle. I hauled in many big Pike and Eyes in my Frabill and structurally is just fine. It is just the netting is wearing (wore)out. The Beckman is heavy duty, unfortunately handles like it also. I like the lightness of my Frabill, but will be giving the Beckman a try as soon as the netting goes ont he Frabill. Can someone point me to a link where I can just purchase the netting for my Frabill??

Fleet Farm has replacement netting for the Frabill’s. They also carry a selection of Beckman’s.

I would go to Cabelas and look at their nets. I got a Cabelas net for 35 bucks, and all it was was a Frabill pro-lock with Cabelas name on it and 40 dollars less. Good hoop, extends to like 7 or 8 feet, and cheap.
