thinking about a GPS

Since I’m just a recreational angler I never wanted or really needed to invest the money on a GPS. Now with a new job that has me on the road all the time, I am thinking of buying a GPS to double as a road map and a fishing tool. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, D.

Are you talking about a handheld portable unit or a sonar/gps combo for a boat?

Handheld- I would recommend a Lowrance I-Finder H20C this unit is waterproof, color screen, you can use MMC cards such as Navionics fishing hot spots, and other chips. I use this unit, when I am not in my suburban (has on board GPS) to get to fishing spots…I used it up on mille lacs this winter. I was even using it yesterday- Went down river in the boat, to find an old mushroom spot!! SWEET unit!!

For boat- I would recommend the 332C or 334C- only difference is the internal antenna as, compared to the puck antenna on the 332C. Both are really slick units- and not too much $.

Check out Jolly Ann Marine for both of these..free shipping and no tax!!!

thanks Luke, yeah I’m looking for a portable hand held unit that I can use in my truck and then take on the boat when needed.

Even if I had all the money in the world…I would probably still buy the H20C- I had a friend pick up the expedition color from Wade..and he really, really likes it. Here is some info on it-

I have a Lowrance IFinder H20 the black/white version. It has been awesome, the only thing I would do differently is maybe get the H20C with the color screen. I use mine with the Navionics Premium North card and it works well. I will probably put a bigger unit in my boat because the map would be sweet on a bigger screen, but the H20 does the job for now.

    Dazzle,
I have the H20C and it rocks. I have the MN lakemaster card for fishing and can use mapcreate for road travel. Very good resolution and accuracy and the price cant be beat compared to other comparable GPS’ on the market. I think Wade at Jolly Ann Marine is the one to talk to about electronics. Their ad is on the top of the page under “fishing gear and services”

If I remember correctly, not too long ago, Wade from Jolly Ann had a post about a new unit he had available. It looked pretty neat great for both the boat or the car.
