Boat numbers

    I have to put new numbers on my boat.Whats the best way to get the old ones off, with out scratching the boat?

    I’ve had good luck using a heat gun. A good solvent should also get the old numbers off.

    The hair dryer trick works great. Just get them warm, not super hot, and peel them off Wal-Mart has some sort of spray that is suppose to help get old numbers off, but haven’t tried it yet.

    Use the heat gun to remove the vinyl film. The adhesive can then be removed with a citrus based cleaner, this breaks down the adhesive and removes it. Clean the area with iso-propyl alcohol to remove any grease and dirt. Then put on the new decals.
