Does any body out there have a flat that is 48″ across at the bottom? I am curious if they are very stable. And also if they take much water to float. I was looking at 16′ by 48″ but am not sure whether or not I need to pay the extra money and get one 52″ wide. I will use it for a lot of river fishing and some duck hunting. Any info or opinions will be appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.

I have a 14ft, 48 inch floor jon boat. (Crestliner 1448) Very stable. I can stand on the rail and not tip it over. I’d suggest getting one with the tall 20 inch transom and long shaft motor.

Thanks Jon, I’m actually looking at the crestliner 1648 with the 20 inch transom. Thats the answer I was looking for.

Same here. You can stand on the gunnels of those boats. High sides and long shaft is the way to go.

I’m real happy with my boat. But if I had it to do over again, wish I had got the 1648 with a galvanized trailer.
