I have 1996 Rodeo with a 3.2 ltr engine and it has over 200k on the motor. Goes thru a quart every 500 miles. Any treatments out there that will stop the oil from burning so much? The motor runs great! just goes thru the oil. Just got the vehicle so I can’t tell you if the mileage has gone down but I’m sure it has. I get about 17mpg on the hwy. I had tries the ZMax stuff before on another car and it didn’t work at all. I tried Lucas oil in this and doesn’t seem to work either. Any suggestions?

Your experiencing “ring blow by”, there isn’t a treatment that will prevent it unfortunatly. Unless you consider new sleeves and rings a “treatment”. Keep dumping the oil in…hey at least you’ll never have to change the oil, just change the filter every 3-4g. I had one of those oil burners some years back, always ran good just needed oil added all the time.

I used to have a gmc van that was using a lot of oil. Every time I’d pass a car I’d loose a quart. Got some stuff at fleet farm. Sorry, can’t remember name. I think it was called motor medic or something like that. Was for stopping excessive oil consumption. If I get time tommorrow I’ll stop there and see if they still carry it and pm you. Things like that usally don’t seem to work, but after I added that I went about 2000 miles and traded in the van. It hadn’t used any oil in that time, even when I passed a car. Can’t say how long it works though. Might have to add at every oil change, but thats cheaper than a quart every 500.

Cooker…that’d be great! If I get time I might look also. Thanx for the info.
