On another website, it is being stated that one only needs to carry either a Minnesota or Wisconsin license to fish the boundary waters, specifically for the FLW Tour event in May. I was always under the impression that one would need both states licenses. Could someone please clarify this? Thanks in advance.

Jerry, just one. MN or WI.

    Go with the cheapest Non-Res.

If I’m in the Stren Series in July and I end up down on Pool 9 between Wi & Ia ,then a Mn License probably wouldn’t be enough right?

Just a thought…you might want to call the FLW because depending on the boundries they set if you end up going up some feeder creek/river past the reciprocity boundry you might need both.
I think they try to keep it limited to “border water” though so you should be fine.

As John said, if the rules are “Navigable Waters” that could lead you beyond the boundary waters which are considered “Track to Track” meaning the railroad tracks on the MN and WI sides of the river.

Also, don’t forget that if you are fishing boundary waters and you are a resident of one of the boundary states then you must carry your home state license.
Since you are from Wisconsin you do not need to buy a Minnesota license to fish the boundary waters as long as you stay betwwen the tracks.
