Has anyone had any luck for large or smallmouth bass on Pools 7, 8, or 9? I’m going to try for some on Weds. any good areas? or other advice? Thanks.

Fished Pool 4 last weekend, water was pretty muddy and getting muddier by the day. few mallies, slow presentation jigs and tandem spinner baits. Hope this helps.

    Sumo,

by wed, it wouldn’t suprise me if Pool 8 was all No wake….depends on when today’s rains crest the river.

Haven’t heard much from Pool 9, but if you fish pool 7, Head for Lake Onalaska. Despite the high water, the conditions there remain stable. Think Deep reaction bites and/or plastics on deep ledges. Despite Warmer backwaters, they just aren’t there yet.

but then again, w/warm temps next week early, you might see a few move up

I noticed a guy fishing a nice deep water area on the lake this afternoon. I am betting money he was doing the ledge with plastics The lake is good with a little deeper water in it

slop, you can bet things will be picking up next week….the lows are in the upper 40’s with highs in the mid to upper 60’s with possible 70’s….That will bump the water above 50 i would think making the fishing good. Found an area with 48.8 degree water today and that was around 11:00 this morning, so you know it won’t be long. The trouble on the river is all the current though. Most of the typical prespawn ledges i would want to fish are being pounded by the current, and i don’t think the bass would even want to be on them now (not that you can keep a bait down there anyway). I did miss what felt like a 3 lber on some 4 foot laydowns with a purple mizmo tube..talked to some guys that said that they had caught about a dozen non keepers in that area, all i could muster was the one bit i mentioned above, and another light biter that i missed. I couldn’t get bit on a june bug worm that they suggested, but once i switched to the tube, i had two hits right away. To bad i couldn’t keep them on.

    We were skunked today!

Cade–We fished everywhere and with everything that we could throw today at Goose and didn’t put anything in the boat. The high water and cooler temps sure did not help anything.

I saw you boat a fish today. Why no mention of it? Even though it wasn’t a fish from my rig, it was exciting to see one none-the-less.

Good to see you on the water today. When the fishing heats up, I’ll drive and you show me your hot spots.
