I personally don’t pay attention to these numbers simply because I fish when I can fish. As a weekend angler, you go when you can.

What do others use these number for? What is the breaking point to say, it’s just not worth going, 17K CFS, 20K CFS??

Kooty, Personally I have done my best on big fish when the water was flowing above 40,000 CFS. I think this is because I know more high water spots than low water spots. The fish are forced to feed at sometime, even when the water is at flood stage. Thanks

I check the flow rate to get an idea of where to start looking for fish, which spots, which part of the spots, etc. To a certain extent it let’s me start thinking about where I’ll fish before I hit the water.

    Thanks guys.

I agree that any day on the water is better than none, but if the river is rising or falling rapidly, I would prefer fishing a local musky lake within 15 minutes of home. 2.65/gallon gas is spendy enough to change the choices.

Jon, That flow rate has been the same since last November.
