    Brians method is prefered but you can host the picture online also photobucket and imageshack work well.

    I keep trying to send a picture to that email for my avatar and it keeps getting bounced back.

    I use Photobucket.

    After loading your pic on Photobucket, copy and paste the URL into the avatar spot in your profile.

    Yes, a gif will work if it’s sized correctly…80×80 pixals.
