Gear Ratio

    I’m buying a new muskie reel, and wondering what 5.2:1 (gear ratio) means? Also, what is a good all around gear ratio for muskie?

    That gear ratio is perfect for muskies, I wouldn’t get anything else. That gear ratio is like a boat winch, great for those big baits. The ratio is the spool turns 5.2 times for one turn of the handle.
