This is a informal get together that is going to be just a fun filled weekend of a catching huge walleyes. Everyone is welcome.

Here is the link we have going on over on the FTL site.
If you have often wondered what it would be like to fish out there. Now is the time to take advantage of this opportunities to meet new friends/old friends and catch some of your biggest walleyes in your life.

DeeZee and the gang are coming out the week of the 21st. We were going to have a get together dinner somewhere on friday evening and then fish Erie the next day, saturday the 26th.

Before the boards merged we had a post going with lodging and equipment needs. Unfortunatly it was deleted when the merge took place.

If anyone is still planning on coming out please post here…

If anyone needs lodging, baitshop, launch info etc. let me know and I’ll put together the info again….

See you guys at the end of the month. Its time to hang some hogs!!!!!!!!

Please put that list together again, I was at Lake Erie the week of the 13-19th of April. Would like to see some other choices for lodging and other accomodations. I am planning
another trip in October for another try at those large walleyes that frequent the reefs.

    Hoosier,

Below is the lodging info that I posted for the Spring GTG. If yours plans are for October I would suggest the Huron area of lake erie instead of the reefs. Every fall there is a HUGE pod of big fish in that area. Its so big that Walleye Central has a get together there every year. This year its the last weekend in October. If you guys change your mind and want to hit that area instead let me know and I’ll post somemore lodging info….

Here is the info that I posted for the islands area…

Ok guys, here is some info for lodging….

Steve and his crew are staying at the Marlu Resort, I don’t have the number here at home, but I’m sure Steve will post it for me, thanks buddy.

When I go up to the Catawba area its only for the weekend, so I usually stay at the Holiday Inn or the Fairfield Inn.

Clean, new motel, plenty of parking, McDonalds and Ponderosa next door, baitshop and gas station across the street. Right down the road from the launch ramp.

    Fairfield Inn
    419-732-2434
Its about a mile up the street from the Holiday Inn, it’s a couple years older but very clean. Good parking.

Here are couple of places that friends have stayed at. If you are going to stay for more than a couple of nights you may want to consider one of these. The rates are probably a little less and the beach cliff has fish cleaning facilities.

Spent last week at Port Clinton, Apr.13-18th. First day fished with Jason Glatz to get acquainted with the area. 8 1/2 lbs. walleye was the best of the day with Jason, a very nice fish. The water was stained and the fishing was a bit slow that day. The next two and a half days the water cleared considerably, and a limit of fish could be caught in a matter of 2-3 hours. Limits on walleye are 4 per person this time of year. There was a definate morning bite, 7-10 am, and an everning bite 330 – dusk. In between a lot of trolling could be done. Not being very prolific at trolling lures with planner boards most of our trolling was just putting some miles on reef runners. Our fish all came on jigs, H2O jigs, blue, and blue super-doos. The walleyes were on that blue color for three days. The PWT tournament was in town that week, and the first day weigh in saw some huge fish brought to the scales. 12 1/2 lbs. walleye was the biggest of the first day, with numerous 11 and 10 lbs. fish weighed. Thurs. the wind blew at from 30-40 mph out of the NE., and there were no boats on the big lake. Friday the lake settled down a bit, but was very stained, brown, and the fish wanted green and chartruese doos. It was a little harder to put a limit together that day but it could be done. All the jigging was done on the reefs, in from 16 to 9 foot of water. When the bite was on it was not unusual to see from 50 to 150 boats working a series of reefs. It was a great time and would recommend a trip to Erie, and a guided trip with Jason to anyone. Will be going to Erie in October for another try at the large walleye that group together that month, anyone interested in going with pm for details.

This fish was caught last week on Erie by Steve Fleck from Fort Atkinson. I would say these kinds of fish are put on the wall?

    Nice fish Steve!!

I just got back from our week’s trip to Erie.
I will put together a day by day post with pics later today. Plenty of big fish caught this year again with a mix of calm and rough water days.
