Anyone able to get leftover Wi. turkey permits? Website seems to be locked Up.
They are even having problems getting on from vendor sites, although my brother just called a few minutes ago and said his friend who was second in line of ten just got his after waiting 30-45 minutes.

Thanks for the reply. Seems like some places can get them and others cannot. Not quite fair in my book. Been trying online since noon.
I still haven’t gotten through. After I close the store at 3 p.m., I’m headin’ to the bait shop to get one. Other thing I am having trouble with is after I downloaded Acrobat 7.0, I can’t open any pdf files from certain locations, including the DNR!!!

Online is up and running again. They are trying to tell that I have a wrong deer management issue, but after two tries I don’t remember seeing such an item. So I am not sure if it is all working. Remember you have to have a license to purchase another tag. I have to reup my Patron, which is my problem currently.

What a joke this turned out to be. I waited for 45 minutes in a line of about 12-15. The poor sport shop owner doing everything he could to get through by phone, computer and on the ALIS system. After 45 minutes most everyone had given up and left. Very poor handling by the DNR in my opinion. You’d think that when they stand to gain over $400,000 in these sales that things would have been well planned to go smooth. I see the online version is now up and running but to heck with it. Unless the unit I want is still available the next time I get to the sport shop I’m not buying. This leaves a sour taste in my mouth for sure.

I had renewed my patron’s lic. last week, I went online today and got an extra permit for my zone, no problem at all.

What time did you go online?
Here’s my disappointment and I am going to send this to Scott Hassett and some of the Natural Resources Board members. Yes, I did have to renew my patron’s, no problem there. And maybe I should have read preliminary instructions regarding having to have my 2006 license in place, but I didn’t. The only info I saw regarding it were statements released moving the date of the sale back a week. Thanks God for that or there may have been more problems!!!
But you know what, they gave to me this year and have given to me every year prior, a Spring turkey permit even though I did not have that current license in place. So why all of the sudden do I have to be licensed for this year especially when I have a Spring Turkey permit for 2006 already!!! All I wanted to do was hunt in a new zone (45) that surrounds me.
I have purchased my license on-line before, so I don’t feel like I can’t figure out the system considering I have purchased the last three Patron’s online. However yesterday I continually received an error message that told me I had applied for the wrong deer management unit. So I tried a different strategy, I bought the Patron’s license by itself. Prior to I was trying to buy all of my other permits all at the same time, including a class A bear tag and the extra turkey tag. Once I eliminated all of them at the same time, I was able to again find out while purchasing the extra turkey tag, that they were still telling me that there were no tags in that deer management area. Considering every DMU in the area is a 30’s number, I couldn’t figure it out until I went back to the page of turkey permit numbers per zone and found out that 45 was all out (Before noon, there were tags in four periods). Every time I applied it told me, in fact, the first time I was able to apply for an “E” time period. Then only “F” all the rest of those times.
My frustration is I could still get a tag (not in 45), but right now, I am going to wait until the season and if they are all gone, so be it!!! Another frustration is that I spent most of the day (noon til 6 p.m.) working on getting the damn thing, and could have gotten a lot of other things done!!! Some of it spent on DSL, most of it on dial up.
Now that we have gone through it, and I am sure the DNR will get a flood of negatives for it, I will let it go after I speak to reps from there.
I spend my money and do not get upset when the rates go up because everyone’s rates go up. I try not to disagree with much, because theirs is a thankless job on many occasions. Dealing with us, the public is not easy. They have to take on the public in every issue they face. But they have the people who in most cases are trying to assist/manage our resources the best that their scientists know how. Talk about issues: docks, shorelines, spearing, stocking the right muskies, and on and on. Just a thankless job!!!
Enough ranting!!!
