I got a 2003 Crestliner fishawk SC and i wanted to put a depthfinder on the bow of the boat. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of where i could hook up the sonar to get some power. The only thing i know is if i hook it to the trolling motor battery i will get interference. Thanks!

If you dont have 12V going to the bow. Use a gel cel flasher battery. Just store it in the bow. And learn from my mistake. Dont forget to take it out for winter.

You could always try the trolling motor batteries. If you do have a problem then look elsewhere. There probably is a light wired up for the bow. The bad thing about that is the switch would have to be on Otherwise just run wires up from the rear battery.

I use my FL-8 in the bow of my boat. The transducer is hanging ion the motor and both the trolling motor and depth finder are running off the same battery. I don’t have any trouble at all with interference so it might be worth a try before you buy another battery.

Sometimes its best to run a wire from the fuse panel. Thats text book anyway. Run it under the gunnel and don’t forget the inline fuse even if you’re going from the fuse panel.

When I installed my bow locator, after I went through the trouble of running wires to the back of the boat to get power, I found two wires in the bow that were already in place to hook up power to a locator. Dig around and see if there are any wires pre-run. If not, it’s not hard to string some 14 guage wire to wherever your starter battery is. Put an in-line fuse holder in and your in business.

First of all Fish Welcom to IDA

I have a 2002 DC Crestliner Tournament Series and have a “Fuse” panel at the Console (Helm). I have my FL-8 on the bow and run a wire under the gunnel back to my “Fuse” panel. If you feel under there, there probably already is wires tucked up under there for the Stern Light, Motor trim, etc. I just cinched the flasher wires in with those and ran them. I came out in the front, out of the little covey up there and up into my Flasher. Good Luck and PM me if you do not understand and then I can post some pics.
