I am putting a hydrofoil on my 2005 merc 50, but a friend of mine was told by a dealer he may have trouble with warranty claims on the lower end if you drill holes in it. Has anyone heard of this.
    Thanks

Non-factory modification?I would call Mercury on this one.Maybe raising your motor might eliminate the need for a hydrofoil.Alot of techs think these are just a bandaid, and should be installed as a last result.

Hydrofoils work awesome for getting your boat on plain quicker.
I would doubt it would affect your warranty then again nothing suprises me these days.

They have to prove the foil caused the damage if a claim occurs. I’d check with the dealer and manufacturer and if they say its ok to do, get it in writing so they don’t back out of it later. Remember verbals don’t hold up.

I checked with Link Recreational in Rogers where I bought the boat and they said it will not affect it at all.
