As most of you know Pat Tillman was drafted and offered a $6.5 million contract to play football in the NFL. He opted to join the military and a few years ago was killed in Irag. Initially, the Army said he was killed by enemy fire, but subsequently it turned out he was killed by his own troops. The second report gives plenty of reasons why he was accidently killed from the position of the sun to the lack of light and where he was on the battle field.

Now, the army has opened another investigation regarding
his death. I can’t imagine what another investigation will resolve, but am wondering if any of you have an opinion about what might have happened.

Obviously, I do, especially after a tour of duty in Vietnam, but because I am so off base in some of my responses (and sometimes wrong) I feel it is best to keep my mouth closed on this issue. Nonetheless, your comments are appreciated.

Seems inevitable in war. Also seems pointless to rehash and tarnish his memory. If it means something to his family then I can understand.

I mean no disrespect to Pat Tillman or his family, but is such investigation and further study given to every fallen hero, or just celebrity types? Being former active Army, I think I know what I’m talking about when I say we all know the possible consequences of signing on the dotted line….it may be the bad guys or, heaven forbid it may be the good guys that get you, but it’s a risk we who signed up took. I feel sorry for Pat’s family, but in my opinion, an investigation has been done which stated it was friendly fire that killed him; to spend untold amounts of money digging further will not bring him back, I am so sorry to say.

The very first night in Vietnam, Operation Double Eagle, our Captain of all people got in front of our lines. He can be thankful the guy that shot at him only shot once and didn’t have his M14 on auto, he lives today. Two other instances didn’t turn out so good one Vietnamese Popular Forces troop decided to take a dump outside the lines the other one was one of ours on an ambush patrol. My patrol had another ambush patrol almost open up on us so it happens. I get the feeling there is more to what is going on in this one. Something smells but you may be right it may be just because of who Pat is. To me he’s one of the biggest heroes of the war, I mean turn down millions to fight for us. wow.
Lacrosse Wisconsin you better vote down this idiotic referendum calling for our immediate withdrawal of troops. All you would be doing is telling the insurgents to hang in there. Not the message we need sent if we’re supporting the troops. Sorry I got on the soapbox.

I was just discussing this with some freinds this past weekend. IMO, its being re-opened because he was a high paid celeb of sorts. Someone somewhere wants to blame someone, wants to have someone to point a finger at and say “He did it” then maybe they can file civil suit and attempt to make up for the millions of dollars he “Could” have earned had he came home alive.
Its a sad series of events that to me only tarnishes this great mans name. He is a Hero no matter how he died just because of the message his actions sent by giving up the lucrative life of a sports star to defend the country he and I both love so.
I may be wrong, but until someone can prove me wrong, this is my opinion on the subject.

I feel it takes a special type of “CONVICTION , PERSONAlITY and strength” to offer to our Nation your possible sacrafice of your life. You need that in A soldier to be sucessfull in a war. No matter how he died, he did what he set out to do. which was fight for his country’s fellow Men and Women’s well being. We need this type of enlisted Men and women in our armed forces. I don’t think he was killed for any other reason than Combat friendly fire. Let’s focus and pray for all the troops , the safe the injured and the dead ! I think the media has done anything and everything for a big story. And they will stop at nothing ! GOD BLESS Pat Tillman

I sometimes wonder if this was accidental. If it was then everyone needs to move on and there is no reason for another investigation. If not, it might explain why there is another investigation.

Multiple crime’s were committed after Pat’s tragic death.

Most of the time this would be swept under the rug but being this was a high profile case this time people will be punished for their actions.
