I’m tired of spending 5 min getting the hooks out of the net everytime I net a fish. Long telescoping handle’s a must. Rubber or ruber coated? Folding or fixed? I’ve checked all the stores and from what I’ve seen most of the rubber nets are real shallow, looks like a fish could flop right out?? What walleye net would you buy and why?

I just received a Stowmaster (TS84S) as a gift yesterday and I can’t wait to use it next weekend to hoist walleyes over the sides of my boat. It is coated to combat snagging and has the telescoping handle. It is also easy to store as it folds down and can be carried in a tote-bag which is another nice feature. They have a few different models and you can check them out online. They have a nice warranty as well. Good luck choosing.

Check out the Frabil line of nets. They have one that the handle telescopes out, coated net, and also a nice big net. I have one and I love it. The handle telescopes down for traveling and pops out in a flash when needed. I have never had to unhook hooks from it, even from crankbaits. They sell for under $50

I bought my net and I wouldnt have another except its two nets in one. First, I bought a muskie frame that has a lifetime yoke and is heavy duty in the extension to about 9ft. I just hoisted a 12lb northern over the pier with it fully extended (NO PROBLEM). . Then I got a walleye size net covered in rubber (not all rubber)and fed it on the muskie frame.
EXCELLENT FOR HOOK REMOVALS, THE JUST DONT GET HOOKED,They may sell it as a whole piece now.

The frame is made by Beckman Net out of Madison Wisc. I think I bought it at Gander and the rubber net I think came from Fleet Farm. I got probably $90 into it but am very satisfied. and if I do go muskie fishing, I just swap nets.

Beckmans may have a internet site, I would try them

I would hesitate to buy a rubber net. I have seen walleye bounce out of them. They are not very deep and seem to have a trampoline effect.
I have a Frabill extension with a coated net. It has worked great for me. I broke the hoop on it this spring but that was from pushing my boat off a sand bar so it was my own fault.

I also have a Frabill net, and if I ever catch enough fish wear it out I would either replace with same or look at a Beckman net. just my 2 cents.

I bought a Beckman in 98. Still no need to buy another. I updated the bag several years ago but that’s it.

I would HIGHLY recommend Beckman/Lindy nets. I have their 6 foot Pro Walleye net with the 6 foot extension. This is my 2nd Beckman. The first one was a 6 foot Pro Walleye that was over 9 years old and is still going strong in my Dad’s boat. Both nets are deep and have the treated rubber net. These nets also have a LIFETIME warranty on the yoke and a limitied 3 year warranty on the bag. Frabill makes a very nice net as well, but for my money it is Beckman all the way . 690reece

    Birddog,

I had a rubber one, but it was too shallow and didn’t want to depend on it when it really mattered. It also started to fall apart from the sun. I bought a stowmaster and really like it. It has a coating on the mesh to help with hooks. It has a telescoping handle. It also folds in 1/2 and stows in a nice bag with handle. It will fit nicely in the front left compartment on your boat. I bought mine at the Sportsman show last year and they were throwing in the bags for free (like a 29.95 value).

Coated net was what I was referring to also. I have heard war stories on the rubber nets.. Beckmans are definately the top of the line in nets. your choice from there. FISHINFOOL

Which model is the one you have? If it’ll fit in that storage compartment it’ll be nice.
