In the market to buy a fish locator. Any ideas on where to start? Just the fish locator, not GPS. Looking for the best pixel and color.

I have a Lowrance x102c which has perfomed well. I would have no problem recommending it. If you have a price in mind, I bet Wade from Jolly Ann can give you some good recommendations.

I am pretty open, I am looking for the best unit that is going to save me a lot of time guessing if what I am marking is fish or junk on the bottom.

I like your attitude. You cant go wrong with the new color Vexilar Edge3. Excellent clarity and very easy to use.. You will be very satisfied. I ran mine for the first time two weeks ago.. I was very impressed.. You can stop over and check mine out before you buy. I can give you a tutorial.

I second the Lowrance X102c. Great unit and Lowrance’s service is second to none.

Is the Edge able to work with any other sonars? For example I am running a X-18, but was wondering if they both could work togethor. I guess if I run into any interference I would just use the X-18 as my GPS.

The Edge uses 107KHZ and 400KHZ, you will not get any interference from any other finder. Most finders use 200 or 192..

Without a doubt Wade at Jolly Ann. Unless you really like to pay tax on things.
Also, if you ever have any issues, Wade will either be online or on the phone with you talking you through it.

If you buy from Wade, I will install the unit for you at no charge.

This also applies to any IDA member that purchases a new Edge3 from Wade.

    Must come to me..N.E Mpls

While we are on this topic of fish finders, is there an advantage to having a separate GPS unit from your sonar? Currently I have a GPS and a sonar, but that is how they came with my boat. I’m thinking about replacing them but am not sure about going with a combined unit or two stand alones.

    Any suggestions?

Whats nice about having separate units is screen size. What I mean by that is your not sharing your screen with your GPS and sonar. You also spend more time fishing and less time pushing buttons with a combo unit.

The benefits of a combo unit is price and saving space.
