I’m getting a new boat and it is going to have a 332c in the bow and at the console. What mapping cards do I need to get? I’m guessing mapcreate and navionics. Do I have to get two of each so I can put one in each unit?

I would get the Navionics if you fish the Midwest. There are A LOT of lakes on that baby. I use Mapcreate to enhance my basemap but other than that I rarely use it.
March 10, 2006 at 6:47 pm #428742i have both the navionics and the lakemaster chip…i like the lakemaster chip 100 to 1. it only has MN on it, but it is much more detailed from what i’ve seen.

Scooter, I see you’re in IL so Navionics is probably your best bet. It’ll depend on where you fish. If you would only fish MN or WI, Lowrance offers Lakemaster Promaps for under a hundred bucks for each state. If you fish multiple states like I do, you may find the Navionics Hotmaps Premium to be your best choice as you get several states for $149. The North chip, for example, has MN, WI, IA, MI, ND, and SD all on one chip. IL is on the EAST chip along with numerous other states. The High Definition lakes, which will be listed in red in the lake list, are of excellent quality. You will need one chip for each unit if you want to run each with mapping at the same time.
Mapcreate is an option. I personally put it secondary to the contour maps noted above. Mapcreate offers a ton of topo information, travel info, and allows you to store waypoints etc to your PC. Whether or not you get Mapcreate will depend on what you might want to use it for. The link provides the main details and anyone interested should also view the manual, available online in PDF format at the bottom of this link. Note that the Mapcreate accessory pack includes a data card reader and a blank data card, as well as the CD-Rom.

Jolly. If I understand this correctly. Mapcreate will give you a little better definition than what comes on the units and navionics will give me more detail as far as contours. I fish alot in Wisconsin including the Mississippi river.skeeterpropPosts: 4March 13, 2006 at 3:36 am #429369Scooter, my boat dealer said he had a way to tie his two lms332c together so that they would work on one chip and share info. I don’t know if he was pulling my leg or not but he was going to try it on his boat first and let me know. If it is feasible I will post it.

Correct. For fishing, I suggest the lakemaps over mapcreate.

Skeeterprop, Welcome to IDA.
Everything we’ve tried so far has shown that it can’t be done. You can share certain data between two units, but not the contour maps. If he has figured something new out please let us know. Thanks!
