OK guys, my buddy just bought a hand held Lowrance I FINDER/COLOR.He would like to know what you guys would recommend for a mapping sytem? He wants to have a mapping system that would cover the Mississippi River from Redwing to pool 16. Can you buy single maps of each pool? Do they sell the maps according to the states that you want,is there a package that you could buy? Something that would include that stretch of the Mississippi River and Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois ( LAKES)? What would be your least expensive way to go to get the mapping areas that you would like and with what brand? I hope someone can help, Thanks Rick,

If you want to cover all those areas I’m pretty sure the Navionics Hot maps premium north chip covers IL too. We’ll get Wade in here to let you know. He can set you straight. Until then check out the Navionics chips from Jolly Anne Navionics

The north chip has 8+, Looks like you may need two chips to include pools below 8. What do I know,…..I’m a northerner,.. ,….

Matt – I thought you did pretty good. The North will cover all but the Ill. inland lakes. The North chip covers the river to the south border of Iowa, and a good portion of the Great Lakes waters. That’s gonna be your best bet. Then you may decide to add the East chip for Ill.

Wade, If I am understanding this right the North chip will still give him the mississippi pool maps down to southern Iowa, but not the Illinois inland lakes?Do you know what river pool would be the farthest down it would go? Thanks to all you guys for your help so far. Rick,

I’m not sure what pool is the last one in Iowa, going south. I got a feeling there’s a river rat or two around here who could answer that for us.

Dam 19 is at Keokuk, but it’s 3 miles north of the Missouri-Iowa border, Des Moines river. Let you decide which one.
