I was watching Midwest outdoors a while ago and Ted Takasaki and Tom Keenan were fishing for smallies on ome lake in Northern WI. They were catching absolute HOGS!! I have also seen many Joe Bucher shows with the same results in Northern WI. Does anybody know of these lakes or any with HOG Smallies up there???

    Hey Doug,
Long Lake, Red Cedar, Lac Courte Oreilles, actually too many to list. Lake Owen keeps showing up in press and it is a very good smallmouth fishery but the largemouth have come back with a vengence. Nothing to have a 17 or 18 lb sack of fish.

I always thought it would be fun to pick a lake like some of those, and have a GTG there. Fish species specific, and see how guys do.

I’d be up for that Tuck, since I’m moving to Minocqua we could have it in that area.

Round and Grindstone are two great SM bass fisheries in the Hayward area, as are the Namekagon River and the Chippewa Flowage. I saw that eposide that you’re talking about, and dollars to donuts, those guys were in the Minocqua/Eagle River area.

Joe bucher lives in eagle river, so you can bet that’s where he’s fishing. That up there is toad heaven, and I can’t wait to move.

Northwoods GTG, now that sounds good. As long as it’s not in that weird state of mn.

Joe Bucher rocks! Actually he is a little “blue” but when it comes to fishing he rocks…..

Namekagon river is full of pig smallies. There’s a pretty big guide industry up their as well. I caught several nice one up there this summer and one true hog.
