What route do we need to take to report our catch? Do they have to be kept alive for the DNR? I will be up tomorrow afternoon to do a little fishing for Saturday.

Last time they wanted them caught out of the plungepool. If you catch a fish, make some commotion, and they will come get them.

Perch_44: I am pretty sure you were asking a serious question The plungepool is the area right below the dam. The current makes a very deep scour hole in that area. In the winter many fish use this area as a wintering area. Some people like to fish in this area, but it is unclear on the effects it has on the fish. When you pull sauger out of this hole to quickly, they cannot adjust to the pressure changes and their air bladders will push out through their mouth. That is the reason behind the study. They will put the caught fish in a cage and see how many of them do indeed die from being pulled up to fast.

    Hey Wallyhunter!
I’m pretty sure you don’t want to spend a lot of time pre-fishing in the plungepool for the freeze your butt tourney.
If I remember correctly the winning teams have been fishing down river pretty consistently. Good luck Saturday!

We already had the plan of fishing in some spots downstream. We really love to fish the river, just wish we lived closer. Its always nice to get up there when we can. Any help we get is always greatly appreciated, so any time we can return the favor somehow, will be done. Thanks for the info, and hopefully it will put us on some big ol’ fatty’s’. Will you be there Drew’s Dad?

Unfortunately not. Martin V and I are going out the next day on a guide trip with James. I didn’t even run the freeze your butt tourney by my wife. I already knew what the answer would be. Good luck tomorrow sir!
