For those of you iced in up North, this should give you something to drool about! Here’s a pic of a 15.5 lb’er caught at Lake Fork yesterday by a local angler (not in my boat unfortunately) in 8′ on a black/blue Senko. 25-1/4″ long with a 23″ girth. Talk about a fattie! I believe she ranks as 39th largest ever in Texas. Considering we had an ice storm and our worst cold front this year, not a bad day for that angler!

This is the pic from the ShareLunker program. Probably not clear enough in my post. She was caught by a local angler, not by one of my customers. She’ll spawn with a monster male at the TX Freshwater Fisheries Center and their fingerlings will be stocked back in Fork and other primo TX lakes. Hopefully their superbabies will be the next state record bass of TX.

That share-a-lunker program sounds cost-effective and innovative. Instead of the DNR spending bucks to raise big mama bass or net them, giving anglers an incentive to “donate” prime breeding stock make a heck of a lot of sense.

Thanks for posting that bass pic. It is likely the largest bass photo we’ve had on the site that didn’t come out of a magazine.

    I agree James.
The program is a great idea. Fisherman and women get a graphite mount and help the Texas Fishery Department. For more info about this program click on the link below:

I visited the Edwin L. Cox, Jr., Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) a few years ago. A very informative place. If you are ever in that area I highly recommend a visit.
