Hello to all…Making a reminder post to all the Rainy River spring fishermen that is about time to order your Canadian license and also the Remote Border Pass.
This pass will allow you to fish both sides of the river without worrying about the imaginary line that does exist!!

The phone number for the Canadian fishing license is 807-475-1471…then hit 0 to speak to a customer service person.

Above is the link that will tell you price along with the difference between the license!

Also here is the link for the remote border pass if you choose to get one. RABC

Its a good idea to order these ahead of time to beat the rush!

I also have been checking the archives of weather over the last 5 years in Baudette and have notice that the average ice out or first available boats over the ice on Rainy River has been March 18-20th give or take a few days.

So if your planning on making the trip to fish the Rainy for walleyes or making the run for sturgeon, please use the links above to get your license and RABC permits before its too late.

Look forward to seeing you on the river!!!!

    good post Cal!

I think this will be the last year of them…….

Not sure what is going to happen, but it sounds like we will have to have passports now to travel to-fro Canada……

all depends on “who you are” I believe. I got mine in the summer of 2004 and it expires this coming March….Why mine went over 1.5 years and most other people I know don’t, I don’t know.

It is easy to get………Just go to customs and get it or order via online that Cal gave us!

It kinda really does depend on what kind of mood customs is in or if they like you or not…..Just kidding…. It was funny though

Seriously like Gary mentioned its strange how my remote border pass is good for 2 years and my uncle needs one every year.
The only dates you need to be specific on is when you want to pass to start, it is then good for one, two, or maybe three years from that date!!!

I believe the RABC expires on your birthday. So if you get one shortly after your birthday and it happens to be in winter, it’s good for 2 seasons. If you get on just before your birthday and it’s in the summer it will expire on your birthday the next season. I think.

What I’ve been trying to find out is if you’ll need a passport to fish Canadian waters if you don’t touch land. Isn’t the passport issue about getting back into the US after you’ve been in Canada?

Hey Gunflint you are correct…You will need a passport to get back into the USA starting in 2007!!!!!!
Another reason to get in line early to prevent any delay in future trips or paying extra fees to hurry up the process!!!

    Right Kooty!!!!

Let’s see if I’m understanding this correctly. In 2007, I go on a fishing trip to Canada. I don’t have a passport, however I can get into Canada. When the trip is over I can’t get back in the U.S. until the paper work is completed. This would force me to stay in Canada for at least several days and maybe even a week or two. I’ll bet the boss has never heard this one before.
