Red Lake report

Last weekend 5 of us rented a sleeper house from Chad’s fish house rentals 218-751-7643. We arrived Friday about 1p.m. to very cold temps (-24) and left on sunday at noon. The total was 21 Crappies (15″ biggest), kept 10 Perch, 36 walleyes (22″ biggest), 1 4lb northern and lost a big northern. 95% of these fish were caught in one house with 2 people, the other house was a party house . We went out on JR’s landing and drove maybe a mile and half to 14 feet of water. The fish were really shy, they would scream up to the bait and then slowly sink down to the bottom. The best way we found was a pink or red Demon with a large crappie or med. fat head 15-18″ off the bottom and DON’T touch it. If they were at your bait even a small amount of movement down they went, matter afact alot came off of rattle reels. I did catch a couple using a buckshot spoon, thought I would try it and they hit it hard.
