The 2 churches I attend pray for everything from killing mosquitos to hurricane victims. No mention of the troops or the sacrifices they are making in order to keep our way of life (and religion) FREE. Is this common elsewhere? If it is to be politically correct I’m ashamed! If it wasn’t for previous wars and military action, we would all be speaking Japanese, German or forced to worship some other middle east
god. Is it a criteria for clergy to be liberal or at least wimps on praising our military history? I say BS!!!!!

I think it depends on the church, mine is very strong in praying for the troops we lost a member over there last year.

Our church prays for the troops, our leaders, world leaders, and peace every week.

Good for you guys! The churches I go to are ELCA Lutheran and United Methodist. It would be so refreshing to hear a simple “thank you” to our troops for fighting a mission that will hopefully bring peace in the Middle East. Sometimes I get the impression that when the clergy prays for the troops it’s kind of tongue and cheek…kind of like “our Commander-in-Chief is an idiot and we pray that you make it out alive despite his bad judgement”. I hope and pray that the Middle East is peaceful in the future because of us liberating Iraq and Afghanistan. There I’m done venting!

I attend Our Saviors Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Iron Mountain, Michigan. We are a large congregation of 1,400 members…(largest in the U.P..)
The entire congregation has been praying OUT LOUD for our troops every Sunday at both services. We have about 16 young men and women over “there” right now. The congregation has also been writing personal letters to the troops.
There is no ELCA sanction against this…YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR PASTOR AND/OR CHURCH COUNCIL!

Thats the place to vent friend! DO IT!
