I am wanting to mount a deep cycle battery in the front of my boat, but I am concerned about how much shock it will take. Is this an issue I should even worry about? Can something be done to absorb the shock such as anti fatigue mat under it or something? Looking for ideas, suggestions and plus or minuses! Thanks in advance.

I would think there would be some extra wear on the battery in long term use in a bow application. When the battery gets older and the plates start to break down, I am sure it will be more prone to damage.

I would think some type of cushoin should help reduce impact and should prolong battery life. Something like foam rubber within a tight fitting battery box would probably be a good shock absober if the battery doesnt leak. There is lots of high quality weather stripping out there that might be ideal for an application like that.

I am sure you will come up with something.. your on the right track.

I have had mine up front for 2 1/2 years now with no problems. I just buckled them down real good in there boxes.

I have no idea if these work, but saw them in the latest Cabelas mag.

Might give the AGM or glass mat bateries a look, I had mine mounted on their side in the nose of my old boat for 2 years with no problems.

I placed some nice 1/2″ carpet under mine and strapped in tight. Works great!!
