I just went through this dilema and chose the Alumacraft Navigator 165. I do like the IPS on the Lund but the Navigator seemed to be a better boat for me. Not to mention the price is much better.

Call Nick at Lacannes Marine. Alumacraft and Yamaha are giving some rebates right now that cant be beat.

There is a reason the ALumicraft is cheaper. Between my kid’s john boat and a welded alumicraft he bought for his 40 HPMerc, and a Lake city guide with an Alumincraft the experiences could not have been worse. Both riveted boats eventually leaked, and the welds cracked year one on the new John Boat. The new Navigator is great looking and has some nice accesories, but I ended up wih a choice between Lund and Cresliner, and bought the latter.

Did they get the Alumacraft welded after the rivets broke? Broken rivets should be replaced with new rivets and not welded. Welded repairs will crack over time with expanding and contractions. To the best of my knowledge, Alumacraft and Lund do not weld thier seams. Alumacraft uses one piece for the entire boat. Lund rivets all thier seams and Crestliner welds all thier seams.

    Derek,

just a quick note. The boat welds were cracked on in several places on the inside. My son took it back to Dick’s Marine in Winona and the boat was returned to te factory by Dick and fixed. He subsequently sold it for us on consignment. Again, my preference is Crestliner and Lund.
