I just bought a new used 18′ Lund with a 50hp tiller. It does not have trim/tilt. I’m thinking I would like to have t/t… has anyone tried the CMC PT130 Series Power Trim? If so, how did it work and does it hold up well? Thanks in advance for your replies!

These units are very durable.Do keep in mind the 6″ or so setback.I had the PT35 on a boat a few years, had to add an extension to tiller.

I’ve had them on 40hp tillers and 15 hp kickers. Basicly work fine. Will gain you speed with the set back of 6″. When you install it you need to see what the engine might hit if you hit a log or rock. With the engine set back the front of the engine can hit the transom if forced completely up. Happened to me, it cut the kill wire and the engine was stuck completly up and running wide open. Had to pull the gas line to shut it off. Took another boat to help me get the engine unjamed so I could get it back down. Complained to CMC that they should warn of the possibility. Don’t believe they ever did. Mine was also a tiller on a Lund. Oh well, you asked. Hard to explain If you want it clearer call me. 641/891-2922

I had the PT135 CMC on a previous boat. Thing worked great and had lots of power.

I wouldn’t bother getting the one with the gauge……You really won’t need it for the extra $100…….

But they are solid and strong!!!!

Thanks Gary… I was thinking about skipping the gauge. MIKE
