Stuck in Onamia

I need some help. I am going to be staying at the Grand Casino hotel in Onamia 3-4 days a week with work. I need to know some decent spots I can walk out to and catch a few perch, eyes would be nice as well, but just looking for a place within walking distance from shore that I could maybe catch a few fish at.

I’m also game for any other lakes in the area if there are any, I am WAY out of my element here.

Walking out for perch may be a bit difficult. The flats are out 5-9 miles. There is Dam and Rabbit lakes north of Mille Lacs of 47. Bobber is the guy to ask. Or Scott Steil…

Thanks Chris, I am not opposed to driving out, but the company won’t let me take the company truck out on the ice. No sled, no wheeler. Just a bucket, auger and poles….is there any resorts that offer “drive out” service?

Might want to stop in to Terry’s and ask. You will be just south of there. Some of the guys who are farmilliar with that southwest side of the lake would know. I’ll shut up and let them chime in.
    Good Luck!

Will the company let you drive to the South and SouthEast side and then walk out. From there you can fish either Wahkon or Isle bays, both of which will hold perch (and sometimes crappies if you’re in the right area). Other than that I’d talk to the resorts on the West side. They check their roads numerous times daily. Maybe they’d drop you off on one of the flats and come back and pick you up later for the $10 road fee?? Just a couple thoughts.

Yes, I can drive the Co. truck to a landing just about anywhere around the lake.

As I said, I will only be there Mon-Thurs. so it will be evenings and nighttime fishing for me.

I have a cabin on hawkbill point which is about 4 miles North of Isle. You’re more then welcome to park in my driveway and walk out from there. Lots of good structure within walking distance from my shore for both perch and walleyes. Let me know if that interests you and I’ll PM you some directions.

Don’t know how Shokopee is during the winter but I used to do well there in the fall when my aunt and uncle had their resort on Mil Lac

OK; if we want to get specific, I’d say the casino (and the res.) is at Vineland.
