Why should I register a Username?
By registering a Username, you will be able to edit your profile and preferences. You will get the most out of your time here if you change your profile to suit your individual tastes. There are a lot of options in your profile to make your experience here more enjoyable, so please take a few moments to try the various settings. Also only people with registered Usernames can take advantage of the “New Posts” feature upon each visit. This means that each time you come back on the site there will be little red numbers by each forum and thread alerting you of new posts/replys since you were on last time. Its a very neat feature. You also can send pms [private mails] to your friends on here. And nobody from staff will try to sell you anything nor bother you. Registering is just for helping you get the most from the site. Thats all.
    Thanks, Bill

Ya know Uncle Bill? You are right! We don’t talk enough about registering… I just assume anyone that has an interest in fishing or the other forums …would just register. I don’t think about what the unregistered folks can or can’t see.

I think most folks figure if they take the 3 minutes to complete the form that IDA has their email address and then the junk mail will start coming. Not the case! There isn’t even a box to check that asks if you do or don’t want to recieve info on specials ect. The reason In-Depthangling asks for your email is to validate you. Just to make sure it’s you asking for entery. Once you’ve completed the registration, and email will be sent to the address you listed to verify your ID and Password…and your in. Done Deal!

Another piece I take for granted is the photos in the forums. When a non registered person views a post with a photo…The text of the message is there of course but to view the photo you have to click on the word “attachment” and downloading the photo. So in this post, if you are registered, you can see the pict, the rest of you have to click on the word “attachment” to view it…I’m guessing there’s many that didn’t even know there were pictures here!

The Private Messeging feature as Bill said is fantastic! Basicly it’s just a simple email system within In-DepthAngling. A little envelope flashes when you have a new message and you can reply by just one click.

No big deal you say? Over the last 2+ years, I caught more and bigger fish than I ever have in my life…more than I ever thought possable…and EVERY one of these outings started with a Private Message. It is a big deal!

Ok, so you just don’t want to talk on the open forum. That’s what’s cool about registering! Once your registered, check the box to automaticly sign you in…read, view the photos (my favorite), take advantage of the “new posts” feature that Bill talked about….and….don’t talk! It’s just like not being registered, but your taking the advantages of all the features.

I know I’m getting long winded…(what’s new?) but I feel it’s improtant for the 90 “lurkers” that are on right now…to know what they’re missing!

When you read this…and after your don’t registering, follow the easy directions in “MY HOME”, shoot me a Private Message!

I’ll tell you what Uncle Bills secret winter time bluegill bait is…if you promise not to tell anyone else.

Hey Mike! If I recall…there were 90 lurkers and 30 registered users at the time I wrote that last night…sure looks like you are registered!

    Welcome!!
