Proud to be American

We do not have a political forum but I wanted to share this with everyone. Our world is in a bit of turmoil right now and we need things like this to remind us what freedom stands for.

    Here is the article:

You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote the following to let everyone know what an American is, so they would know when they found one: “An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans. An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan.

The only difference is that, in America, they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God. An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God-given right of each
    person the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need.

When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country. As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best: the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, the Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them
were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. I’ve been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those who aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself.
Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

    hey dino,

you just made my day, I am a disabled vet myself, i have endured many years of pain to protect our freedoms that we take for granted, like hunting, fishing, and all of the other stuff that we can do at a moments notice. I can tell you this much, i would gladely endure this pain and shed my blood to keep our freedoms. I now have a 6 month old son, and i would do it again, even with him in this world. i have been put down, faced alot of realities that i can’t do some of the easy tasks of day to day without pain. but it reminds me what i believe in, and that is every man, women, and child have the right to be free!!!

thanks for posting that, it brougt a tear to my eye here at work. damn allergies!!!!!!!

    God Bless America!

This thread is 15 years old….I hold hope that Someone views this expression of my opinion. I am middle class white American born and raised. I support ALL veterans who have served for our country, which is to say they served for Me and my family so we could live a happy comfortable life. Much respect and admiration rightfully acknowledged. However, despite our intentions, our government has manipulated and deceived the general public. Congress is corrupt. The Presidency is a joke. And the media has brainwashed middle-class America. Disagree if you must, but remember, part of My freedom as an American is the right to express and voice my personal views. IMO, change is needed. Again,In My Opinion, the First substantial Change we should aim for is eradicating the unlimited terms that our Congress people are allowed to serve. We need to eliminate the Electoral College. WE THE PEOPLE need to assert ourselves and regain control of our rights,

Yeah, eliminate the electoral college. Why not throw out the Constitution while you’re at it. After all it isn’t working, people are fleeing this country for a better life elsewhere by the millions.

Not sure why you had to tag this on to this old post.

Considering it’s his only reply or post, it’s safe to assume he’s a implant.
The liberals will scan websites looking for any sort of political post and try to sway other peoples thinking.
