Well it is with a sad heart that I join the good people that have lost a teacher, friend, and Grandpa. My grandfather died recently of liver cancer and I will be attending the funeral this Friday. I look back at all the great times we had, starting with the day he took my brother and me fishing in the small river down by his house. Since then as he said “he didn’t know he was going to create a monster”.

We have shared many great times and I still laugh at the stories he told of my brother and me fishing with him. I am glad he had the opporotunity to meet my son before he got sick and passed on. My grandpa was always one for the quick joke and he never went anywhere without his fishing poles. You could see them tied to the back ladder of his RV. I smile now as I can recall he traveling all over the country saying ” I don’t care where I am. If I see water I am going to wet a line so I can say I fished in this state.” I can proudly say he covered almost every state west of the Mississippi.

I am going to miss him dearly and I look forward to the stories I am going to tell my son about my Grandpa, Brealon Donaldson “the old man of the sea”

That is what we called him.

    Pretty solid memories
Now it’s your turn to do the same.
Should not be a challenge with such a impressionable teacher
    cheers

MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU. GRANFATHERS ARE LIKE NO OTHER, AND LOOSING THEM LEAVES A HOLE THAT NOTHING CAN FILL. BUT THE MEMORIES THAT WERE CREATED WILL LIVE ON THROUGH YOU AND YOU CAN PASS THOSE EXPERIENCES ON TO YOUR CHILD! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Both of my grandfathers passed away years ago. I still miss them dearly. They both taught me thing that I find my self still doing their way.
Sorry for your loss. Pass on what they taught you to others that way they are never forgotten.

That is such a cool memory. That’s what they mean when they say you got to grab life and live it.

I only new my grandmother until the 6th grade. The rest passed on before I knew them.

Be grateful of the time you had and remember, as long as they are in your heart…loved ones never die.

Sorry to hear of your loss. He is now where there is no pain, no sorrow, only happiness. He will be watching over you when you fish and he should know all the good fishing spots up there by the time you join him. Looking at it that way will make it easier for you.
    Thanks, Bill
