I found most of my problems came from when I was in an areas with a lot of tree and such, then again you normally have more than 1 sat. to connect to, so it may not be as bad. Can’t compare it to dish since I run cable, on a diferent note, guys at my work listen to XM radio, with no windows near by they still get reception in a power plant, totally baffles me.

I have not had that problem with my GPS. I haven’t heard of anyone else having a problem with it either. Should be okay.

The GPS on my boat has always been fine! But I have a hand held GPS, and if I turn it on in my basement It will not find the satellites intil I walk up stairs.
It just says searching for satellites non stop in the basement, but if I turn it on upstairs and it finds the satellite I can walk down stairs and it works fine.

Fog and weather will not be a problem for your GPS..that is what they are made for. Your DISH..yes, big problem and I can relate. Building, Steel sheds or a think canopy of trees will make for some issues. It helps to have it locked in well before you go into the woods.
