How can we keep the batteries charged up while on the pond? I am pretty sure my battery will not last the entire time I am fishing. Any thoughts on this?

I like the clarification…this could have gotten ugly in a hurry….
Bring an extra battery fully charged if possible…don’t know there is a way to charge a battery unless its plugged in…anyone bringing a generator????

I never thought about renting out generator time
I suppose some people are going to spend enough time just driving around that a power inverter would work
    cheers

Bring a deep cycle, and charge access to hook up! Jumper wires are cheap!

I went to Gander in hopes of finding a car charger for the Marcum, but they didn’t have squat for Marcum accessories. Not sure if they make them or not. I don’t have a deep cycle battery laying around I may get through the Friday evening bite as well as part of Saturday, but probably not much more. I am lost fishing without a flasher.

still would be cheaper to buy an extra battery anyway…they are always good to have on hand just in case yours goes to ***t!!!!!

Wats- my lx-5 batteries lasted all of two days fishing up there!! And when I charged them, the both had 60% remaining. I don’t know if this is the norm, but…

Where can I get a battery on short notice? Not sure if a vex battery will work or not Then I have to figure out how to get the battery out of the soft case

A Vex battery will work just fine! I used to use a garden tractor battery if I knew I was going to be gone for a long time. They are cheap, and stay charged forever! If you have the space for them.

Chris, I will be bringing the deep cycle out of the WAD. If anybody wants to “hook up” they need to bring enough wire and $5.00 !!!

Fleet farm is your best bet.
They have batteries for under 20 bucks and a charger is included.
    Hope this helps.

Found a better deal today, Gander here in Brainerd/Baxter, $9.99 for a 12 volt Aqua View Battery includes the charger.

probably too late for ya now Watson…but vexilar has a new product out this year called the “sportsman connection”, it is a 12V charger for the 12 volt gel batteries. It is $19.99 at Gander and plugs into your cigarette lighter in your vehicle and has alligator clips on it like your main charger to charge your battery. Will work for vexilar/marcum/aquaview……all those use the same battery…basically. You can charge your vexilar battery while your driving down the road! I believe the one dnort is talking about is only a 4.5 amp hour battery, and most of the vexilar/marcum batteries are 7-9 amp batteries. Just a little FYI for ya when ya get back from the GTG. Man I wish I was there!!!!!!!!!!!!
