Packers new coach

    I’m starting to wonder if Thompson,s not the one that should have been fired. If Bates dont come back next yr i can see the Pack going back to the Pack of the 70s and 80s.

    On paper this seems a very odd choice. Thompson picked a coach with several losing records and never even entertained Mooch who has proven capable of winning. Very odd indeed. In fairness I recall thinking much the same of this Mike Sherman guy six years ago. He has proven worthy as a head coach anyhow. My feelings are Thompson should be the guy looking for work instead of Sherman.

    The hire reminds me of a line from the movie Major Leauge.

    Well he may prove many wrong and be the Coach the Pack is looking for but I doubt that he will sell any preseason tickets just by his name.

    If he can bring that explosive San Fran offense to the Pack? Combine that with there shut down defense?

    I agree and also thought Sherman should have been given another chance. Their recent moves acquiring Thompson and McCarthy make me afraid the Pack is headed back to the doldrums of the 1970’s and 1980’s.

    Thompson should have been shown the door. Sherman was a good coach. He is basically fired to bring in a Thompson guy. Thomspon sat on his hands while we put a rookie and a couple retread slobs into our offensive line. We can look forward to some outstanding new orleans / SF style football now. If you fire a coach as a GM you better be able to get someone just as good or better. Bear Fan and Viking fan are laughing the butts off right now. I think the queens did very well with their hire.

    I guess I will give the guy a chance, but at least we have the Badgers. Football, Basketball and Hockey. An athletic program definitely going in the right direction.
