I appreciate your thoughts and feelings. As for the distortion of facts, well all I can say is this, having a degree in history has taken me through many avenues of the “truth”, and lets just say there are many bumps in that road. The truth isn’t always what really happened, it is only that to which many have been told to be the truth. Distortions are, as you have stated “propaganda”, it all depends on who’s distortions you choose to think of as “the truth”, then everything else is propaganda.
It is funny that we are now going to the church thing. I read this about distortions and propaganda and the first thing that came to mind was religion, but I was not going to open that can of worms. I see this distortion/propaganda the same as religion. Someone passed stories down and some believe and some don’t. Lets take a look at the bible, did that stuff happen, well sure it did. Was it all facts?? Well chances are the answer is no, someone put this together based on what they were told and or what they remembered. We all have a different take on things, even if we were to witness the same thing at the same time, my take on the story/ or sequence of events may differ from someone elses. Now today there are large goups of people that are calling themselves christians and believe 100% in what they read in the bible and that is how they live their lives. Now back to the topic at hand. History is full of distortions and propaganda and people are living their lives based on someone elses stories told years and years ago. If you choose to have faith in something great, if you don’t that is fine with me too. We all have the right to believe what we want, and we all have the right to voice our opinions. That my freinds is the beauty of living in our wonderful society
