TBO:
Curious on your response. So I have a question.
Is this considered the same as Bosnia, Somalia, Panama, Kuwait, Vietnam/Cambodia/Laos, Korea, Germany, Mexico, Spain, England??????December 23, 2005 at 6:03 pm #406359Quote:
Gary, lets just stick to the topic at hand. Don’t waste your time or energy with such a post that serves no purpose and only draws attention away from the respect our soldiers deserve. God Bless our soldiers and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

December 23, 2005 at 6:07 pm #406361Thanks for sharing Gary.
Thanks to all the armed forces men and wemon, Merry Christmas!
Ditto on the Mack statement
December 23, 2005 at 6:31 pm #406367It is amazing how the views of those that have never “Been there, and done that” are so different. It is pretty easy to have all the warm fuzzy, “I am a patriot”, support our troops(but leave me and mine along)feelings while you sit where “you” are today. Feelings change when you are looking at it from the experience side of the fence, and you have lost family “for the politics of a few”
And Slop, that is reality…
December 23, 2005 at 6:33 pm #406368That truly is a great post. The statement by TBO was really unnecessary . I hope that the reaction from the people in that clip is the norm—-not the exception. I am proud of these servicemen and women and happy that the general concensus is one of pride, not like it was 35 years ago when I and my friends came home. I truly envy them for that reason. Merry Christmas everyone.
December 23, 2005 at 6:49 pm #406371First off, don’t ever post that you know anything about where I’ve been or what side of the fence i’m sitting on because you don’t know jack about it.
Second, reality is something you’ve lost touch with a long time ago – solidified by reading your posts time and time again. You took what was a good post and tainted it with “the opinions of a few”
But i’m not going to argue about this anymore b/c it’s the holiday season…We could argue politics of this war all day. Hope you have a great holiday.

December 23, 2005 at 6:57 pm #406376WOW!! struck a nerve there…..and you turn around an do the same thing…ok for you, but not for me….I get it. Attacking somebody at a personal level is ok with you, yup, I see it much more clearly now, thanks for setting me straight.
December 23, 2005 at 6:59 pm #406378Just returning the favor TBO, your post was directed towards me, and I responded…..
We’ve NEVER seen eye to eye on things, and that’s fine. Like I said, have a good holiday.
December 23, 2005 at 7:28 pm #406387I think “politics of a few” is a little off TBO. Lets face it. Clearly 1/2 of all Americans fully support the military action in Iraq. (These are consistent poll numbers across a wide variety of news agencies.) The US also has the majority support of NATO and the United Nations. The Congress (Both Republicans and Democrats) continue to support the President.
Saying “Politics of a few” conjures up the CNN news image of George Bush and Dick Cheney sitting around smoking cigars and sifting through a mountain of cash. Which is not reality!
If YOU don’t support the war, I’m cool with that.

December 23, 2005 at 7:34 pm #406390Funny, I thought both Republicans and Democrats voted for the war in Iraq. The last time I checked, they need to be elected by a majority of the public.
You have the right to oppose the wat TBO, but to say it is the politics of a few is just a lie. I feel for the families of those who gave their lives in the war. I am also sorry for the 3000+ that died on 9/11. If we dont beat this enemy, there will be many more victims or terrorism. Doing nothing is not an option. Clinton tried that, it failed horribly.

Isn’t it a shame that we have to send those courageouse people off to fight and die for freedom, safety of our children, and human rights because so few other countries have the balls to do it alongside us?!
Get it right.

I trust you are sparing your 4th grade students this distortion of facts! You are, aren’t you?December 23, 2005 at 8:09 pm #406394My students are really no concern of yours. As for your post about them…I feel that is questionable on your part. If you want to attack me, then attack, but leave my students out of it.
If you think terrorism had anything to do with the US invasion of Iraq.. Read this:

NOW THAT IS THE TRUTH
EVERYONE, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND PRAY FOR THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT ARE FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOMS.

That certainly was not an attack on your students by any stretch of the imagination! Why are you so defensive? Have a glass of egg nog and chill out!December 23, 2005 at 8:19 pm #406398You can attack me if you like. I had the great pleasure of having TBO as my 4th grade teacher. This man is very good at what he does and there is no one that cares for his kids more then this man. As far as teaching and distorting things to kids, what and the heck does that have to do with this?????? I hope this gets nuked soon, it is not going anywhere, and the personal attacks are a really great thing . It sure looks like everyone is in the holiday spirt…..Have a great weekend and Happy Holidays to all!!!!
December 23, 2005 at 8:33 pm #406400I was not attacking him or his students, only the distortion of facts! Nothing more, nothing less! Distortions are propaganda and it is not recognized as such by all, certainly not the very young! Also, it very much concerns me and many others what is being taught in our schools! Nuf said. Merry Christmas!
December 23, 2005 at 8:41 pm #406402It is funny in 2002 the Democrates were willing to go to war but election time is coming up & they are all saying otherwise know.
If you go to http://www.gop.com & look for a news clip that says democrates: dishonest on Iraq you will see what I mean. (it should be on the second page)December 23, 2005 at 8:52 pm #406403Thank you Bob, I appreciate your thoughts and feelings. As for the distortion of facts, well all I can say is this, having a degree in history has taken me through many avenues of the “truth”, and lets just say there are many bumps in that road. The truth isn’t always what really happened, it is only that to which many have been told to be the truth. Distortions are, as you have stated “propaganda”, it all depends on who’s distortions you choose to think of as “the truth”, then everything else is propaganda.
December 23, 2005 at 9:18 pm #406405OK, what is your evidence that only a small minority supported the war in Iraq.
The lowest I have seen is that the current approval rating for the war is 30-40% depending on the poll. But at the time we went in, it was about 80-90% in favor.
I took the phrase “politics of a few” to be a very small percent. Was this just a poor choice of words? What is your source?
Maybe you were quoting Cindy Sheehan and forgot to cite the source, but even her family doesnt agree with her.
December 23, 2005 at 9:43 pm #406409I must be wrong in what I said……so many have told me so. Everything that all of you have said must be the “truth” because so many of you have told me so. Here I go down that bumpy road…..soon I will be of the same opinion of all of you, keep telling me what I should think………I am feeling more in favor of the war already, geeeez do I feel conservative now, let’s invade somebody else…..ya that’s it…whats that you say…theres terrorists in India, lets go get them, we will be safer if we do….right guys..
Come-on guys lets talk religion….who’s right the christians or the muslims, maybe the jews…..must be the christians thats what most of you are, wait there is more muslims in the world, that must mean they are right….
I’m still here, keep attacking…..it’s the holidays make yourself feel good.
December 23, 2005 at 9:47 pm #406410I am not attacking, I just here you say something that doesnt seem to match up what the press or anyone else is reporting about opinion on this war. I havent seen anyone report that is it just a few that are for the war.
I am just looking for clarification as to what you mean.
December 23, 2005 at 9:58 pm #406413Why are you guys giving him this platform? It’s pretty obvious he was just trolling for this reaction. Let him preach to himself and maybe it will go away.
