I have been out fishing a couple times this winter, went out again to my house and fished northern and perch. every time i go out i see LOTS of large mouth. i dont mean just one i mean 6-7. i know for sure 5 are different since they came in all at once. i know bass really dont bite much during ice fishing but anyone know how i can catch one of these. they are very nice fish. i have tried jigs plain, jigs with minnow heads, jigs with whole minnows, sitting still, jigging. any one else know what i should do to try and get one of these? thanks in advance.

set up tip ups with 3-6 inch shiners and hope for the best. Also try jigging spoons and jigging rapalas. We catch a lot of bass while panfishing with regualar jigs with waxies too, but if you want to land a nicer bass, you will have to go with something bigger. Minnows will work good on the jigging spoons and rapalas, but you will probably want to make it just the minnows head so it is more compact.
    good luck, hope this helps

    Big treble hook…Snag em! JK
I’ve caught a few nice ones through the ice on rat finks tipped with waxies.

We were setup out in a house in 24 fow a few years ago and had numbers of smallmouth bass on the camera. We hooked the camera up to the vcr and taped them! It looked like something you would see on in-fisherman!! They school up in their winter spots….not much feeding or activity that I could see watching them…..they would slowly swim by the camera….oh I remember catching one maybe one day! This house was 1 1/2 miles off shore…….24 fow and big rocks.

The best bait ive used for ice bass is a simple jiggin rap, small size natural color
