I get the feeling that today isn’t the day to be asking help questions. Too many users feeling squirril out there…but here goes.

Last Christmas (I think) my mother in law and some others bought my wife something she’s wanted for a long time..a wooden toilet seat with a moose on the cover. Don’t ask, just except it as I did.

Well, the little legs under the seat are breaking off under my weight…and I’m worried that the wood will crack if I don’t get this fixed soon. Wife has been searching the net, but can’t find anything. No name on the seat to track down the manufacturer with…

Anyone know were I can get PLASTIC legs that have pegs on them?

If this breaks I know she’s going to want me to flip for another seat…and I’m NOT going to spend that kind of money on a freaking toilet seat and cover…personally, I don’t think toilets should have covers.

    Here’s a couple pics…

    This one should be fun.

May I deduct that you are right handed as the pegs that are broken are on the left side of the seat (as you are sitting) which bears the brunt of the force during certain functions concurrent with the utility of this apparatus?

What about making new legs from oak dowl. Then replace all of the legs (if you can’t replicate the ones from the company). Take some dowl maybe 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch and cut it in half. Sand and stain to the color of your choice. Some epoxy and a couple of small screws and you are back in business (counter sink the screws).

That is a nice looking moose by the way. I also agree on the right handed thing. Maybe you will have to start coming in from the front. HE HE HE!!!

Try replacing them with wooden dowels.. Just glue them on.

Good thing you didn’t get bucked off of there. That could have been a real mess. Could you maybe pull the rod out of it and save the lid? and replace the seat with a new cheaper one?

Not sure about how things are up your way but I’m pretty sure my local hardware store has the “legs” your looking for. If you can’t find any around maybe you could consider buying a cheap wooden seat cover (lowes has some for around $9) and taking the ones of off that. I think the plastic ones are glued on but the wood ones are usually screwed/pegged. Kind of a hassle I know but it’s better than shelling out even more money for another “moose” seat.

like phacops says, i know i have a wooden “throne” in my bathroom in the basement, and its the same as yours, minus the moose. wal-mart has them too. buy a new outfit, take off the 4 screws that hold the rim on and install the new ride.

I’m not going to touch this one Well……….Yes I am. All kidding aside. I had this problem a couple of years ago. I had some furniture glide stripes(4″ long by 1.5″ wide)that I used for this project. I hot glued them on and they never came off.

Geez…. talk about a brainstorming session. With all these brilliant minds here maybe we can keep this think tank going and figure out cold fushion.

Or maybe even figure out a peacefull solution to the middle east conflicts.

Or at least answer the age old question of weather the light stays on in my refrigerator when I close the door.

    These guys are good!

And I think I’ll try the wallmart replacement first, then the hardware store…and go from there.

    Thanks again!

I’m not going to say what I’ve been using to keep it from twisting to the …left…but let’s just say…they made it solid enough for a person to tap on it.

    Heck Brian…….

When you go to Walmart, borrow a screwdriver and just take them off one of the seats there…..Easy fix with no cost!!!!!!!!

You definately want to get that fixed!!!! If the “throne seat” cracks and you sit on that crack, you’re liable to have the same “poooooh problems” in your bathroom as you have on your driveway And besides that, who would put the band-aid back there for you

Ummm… nothing is sacred when pictures of our toilets make it on the internet… a fishing forum at that… something smells.. not fishy?

In all reality for a fix, they have little screw on rubber feet at hardware stores that would probably take case of your problem, and prolong the life of your beloved seat. If the height is slightly different, you may have to replace all the footings(supports).

Anything you put on there, if it screwed on, be sure to pre drill the holes in that seat because it looks like oak.. it will probably split.. fancy firewood.

Thanks all! The favorite wife went into the PILES of garage sale stuff that she bought over the summer and found a wooden seat the fits perfectly.

Thanks again for all the help!
