Had to work today but no early Packer football game so I tuned in “Viking Football” on one of the local stations. Now if you’ve never heard a broadcast by Paul Allen and Joe “Senseless”, you are missing out on one of the biggest homer calls in your life. I’ve listened to Paul Hornung on a broadcast and thought he was the biggest homer there ever was, but these guys take the cake. At the end of the game they were talking about, if the Vikings win the rest of their games, “The Ticer” should win “Coach of the Year”. I thought it was against the law to smoke that stuff!!!! Much less while you’re doing a radio broadcast. The only coach in the league that is as bad or worse than Sherman, is “The Ticer”. Yes I am a Packer fan, but I’m being realistic. The Pack does suck. Hopefully the board of directors will finally realize what everyone else knew two years ago—————SHERMAN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! All his winning seasons came with Holmgren and Ron Wolfe’s aquisitions.

Wonder how long it will take for the “through thick and thin…die hard Packer fans” to start jumping ship….seems to be starting. Go Vikes!!!!!

I am a vikes fan but come on! IF they were to win the rest…great! But no way does he deserve coach of the year. He cant control his players and is just not too smart. He better not have a job after this year.

I’m not going to say he should be coach of the year, but if his team goes from 1-4, wins the rest of its games to finish 11-5, which would be a playoff spot and possible bye week, he should get some sort of recognition.

Of course, a long term contract might be enough!!

I haven’t seen very many of us Packer fans jumping the ship like you Viking fans did a while back.
After the love boat incident and the poor start you had, most of you were deserting and calling for Tice’s resignation.
Now you’re on the bandwagon again, even though they only had 1 win against a good team. Let’s see what happens down the road.
    Tice for coach of the year. { cmon }

Hey Steve you know that’s how you can tell a real packer fan from a Viking fan in Packer’s clothing

If I’m not mistaken, the reason for a radio broadcast team being homers is that it’s a regional thing, mostly listened to by fans of that team. You say that you’re objective about this, and I have no reason to doubt that you think you are. Have you listened to the Packer’s radio team? As a Vikings fan, sometimes listening to the Packer’s broadcast, because my wife is a Packer fan, I think that they take the cake when it comes to being a homer. I don’t have a problem with that, since they are not supposed to be objective. They can root for thier team. That’s one of the reasons I like to listen to games on the radio. Whether it is football, baseball, hockey, etc. If they don’t say some ‘crazy’ things, they aren’t doing thier job. Now granted, Tice for coach of the year if far-fetched, but I still can see why they would say something. It’s thier job. I can still remember listening to a Packer Playoff game, and hearing Max McGee saying how this was a must win game for the Packers. No kidding. I personally like listening to the radio call, and if it wasn’t for the 15 second delay or whatever on Direct TV, I would turn the sound down and listen to them instead.

Went to Buffulo Wild Wings yesterday. Usually the place is just “Packed” with the green and gold. Maybe 6-8 fans watching the game . I do believe the ship has left port empty. I must admit that the Purple fans were pretty scarce too, there were plenty of open seats in the bar. That’s alright, more beer for me.

Blah, blah, blah, blah… Saying all Viking fans jumped of the wagon is like saying all packer fans drink paint thinner. I guess if my club was 2-9, I would be a little cranky too. But, the Vikings do have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs this year. We will take it one week at a time. Bring on the motor city kitties.

Do you remember that between Holmgren/Sherman and Vince Lombardi the Pack went for almost two decades with either one or never a winning season. Bengston, Starr, Gregg, Devine, etc.

Give Mike Sherman a break and lets see what happens next year. Unlike the above-mentioned this is his first losing season. And unless you forgot this team has had a few injuries this year.

I say fire Tice even if we win the superbowl.. If we do, give Denny Green the credit. After all, Tice is still using his playbook..

No, they didn’t say a word about the losing records of the teams that they beat.

I’m the one who started this thread and I do have to clarify one thing. Paul Allen is the sane one on that broadcast team. Joe “Senseless” Sensor is the one that brings up these idiotic ideas. If you listen to them you will also notice that he runs down the players on the opposition quite a bit. He even had the nerve to say that Chad Johnson, of the Bengels, was not very talented. That was right before “The Natti” open a can of Whoop-a$$ on them. I think he should have had one of those extra-padded helmets when he was playing.

How can you say Ron Wolfe was a terrible head coach. He was only a coach for 20 days!!!!!!
By the way, it was less than a month later that he orchestrated the trade with Atlanta that sent Favre to Green Bay.

Wasnt Ron Wolfe responsible for a superbowl in that town?

Sherman isn’t a bad coach, but by No means is he great. Sherman inherited a great Packers team and since then they have done nothing but dwindle away each year. They’ve finally hit rock bottom. I’d maybe give him 1 more year to see how he rebounds, but if they suck next year….Nice knowing ya

It was Ron Wolfe that put the super bowl team in place. It was Ron Wolfe and Holmgren that drafted and traded, brought in free agents *Reggie*. All Sherman did was walk in on a team allready in place. Every year under Sherman the Pack has got worse. Bad drafts, bad coaching, just flat bad!!! The bum needs to go.

I have a theory…………I believe that Mike Sherman was Mike Holmgren’s revenge for not giving him the coach-GM job after Ron Wolfe retired. He wanted both positions but the executive committee wouldn’t give him both so he went to Seattle where he got both position. And failed miserably until he gave up the GM position. When the Pack went looking for a coach after they fired the ex-defensive co-ordinator[can’t remember his name]they took Holmgren’s advice and hired one of his assistants as coach-GM. That had to irritate the hell out of Holmgren. Then when the Pack was looking for a running back————-surprise!!!! Holmgren had an extra one of those. Green the fumbler!!!!!!!!! Then to top it off, when the Pack had need for a GM———–you guessed it——-Holmgren had an extra body in the organization to give to the Pack. Enter Ted Thompson. He drafts a QB first round that no-one else wanted and passed it off as the best player available. What happened to the help on the defense that was so sorely needed. Then he fails to re-sign not one, but neither offensive linemen that they could have used. I think that Mike Holmgren has gotten his revenge on the Pack three-fold!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait for the 2006 draft!!!!!
