Looking to plan a trip down there to do some Marlin/deep sea fishing. We are open to either coast and would prefer off-season. Maybe May to Oct. If any of you go down there and can help with any info on rates of rooms and boats we that would be great. Thanks in advance for any help at all.

My wife’s cousin lives in Phoenix and goes to Cabo San Lucas a couple times a year fishing marlin and Dorado. I can probably track down some info from him. Send me a PM with the specifics on what you want to know if you are interested in going there, and I’ll see what I can find out for you.

Ixtapa and Zehuatanajo are tops in my book. You can still get a large boat for around $350 or a smaller panga for $200 for the day. The place was ranked by salt water mag as #2 in the world for sail fish fishing. There are some local message boards for down ther that can give you some more info. We have our 1st trip for the year booked in the end of january. Hope to be making a second guys fishing trip down there also.

Looking forward to surf fishing down there again this year. Tryed it last year and caught a few amber jacks. It is something to do on the days you dont fish off shore.

I get up early in the morning to catch the stake truck (taxi) the runs about 5 miles down te dirt road to the fishing village of Barra De Patossi. Pick out my hammick at one of the local open air cafes on the beach. Then hit the surf with the group of local net fisherman. Cant waite for this again.

    Zihuatanejo.net

    Look for zihuaRob’s message boards.

As far as accomadations Ixtapa is the city next door to zih. they have the all inclusives. For the best deals some of the last minute packages are hard to beat if you can leave on short notice. We stay at a place call hotel los palmas. It is a small 6 room B&B about 20 miles south of town. Not much out there and that is why we like it. It is a little more spendy than the package deals that you can get in ixtapa.

If you get booked for a trip down there I can recommend a few captians also. Other wise just head down to the peir and look like you want to fish. Check out the flags on the boats from the day before and that will tell you who was catching fish. Some one will find you to book a trip.
