smoking is defenitly easier to quit than chewing when i quit smoking 12 years ago it was easy, probably because i started chewing, i quit chewing for 18 months and then started again, iblame it on job stress, the craving never left me, i have a buddy who quit 7 years ago and he still has cravings, drives him crazy when i take a dip the price? yeah its high but 2-3 cans a week @10-15$ people spend a lot more than that on things they enjoy and if you dont blow it on one thing you’ll blow it on another. if you can quit and be comfortable all the more power to you. me,i think i’ll put a dip of kodiak in and go shoot a couple of pheasants

Been there, done that…chewed since 1982, have quit several times, a year, year and a half tops…..pouches brought me back (along with stresses i guess) Hoping to do it for good soon..perhaps a new years resolution.

Just think of ALL that ice fishing equipement you could buy with that money. Gone with the chewing and in with the toys.

Hi, My name is Mike…and I am addicted to chew I used to smoke a pack a day and chew a can a day. Quitting smoking was easy since I had the chew to fall back on. Now I am chewing at least 2 cans a day My gums, teeth, and lips are pretty trashed. I have tried the pills and it didn’t work. I have tried cold turkey and that doesn’t work. So, I continue to chew Since I “gut” the juice I know I am risking many cancers but, if I don’t have a chew in I feel lost. From the minute my feet hit the floor in the morning until I go to bed, I have a chew in my mouth. The only time I take it out is to eat and sleep. I know it is mostly a mental issue, but it is a deep rooted one. Someday soon, I hope to get enough guts to stop. Since the price of Copenhagen is $4.84 a can, I just went to a cheaper brand, but it is still over $4 every day, sometimes $6. That is a little over $2000 a year That is a lot of fishing and hunting stuff I am losing out on. I try to use that logic, but it hasn’t sunk in yet So, those of you who have or are trying to quit, you are much stronger than I am

Oy, vey, $5! I just can’t dip anymore. Tried it once many moons ago. I got the head rush buzz, then the spins, then heaved until the angels sang.

I think that cured me. LOL

Good luck to all on quitting. Get about 50 pounds of sunflower seeds and Tootsie Pops, they do help.

I don’t know what everyones beliefs are here but after trying to quit smoking myself for many years and not being able to do it I went forward at an alter call at Church and asked the Lord to deliver me from this ciggerete addiction. It took his power to get me off of them. I’m not saying it was super easy but it was much easier with his strength and my total surrender. I remind myself that if I had one I would be back at it again. I’ve been ciggerette free for 19 years now. Have to give HIM the glory.
    Thanks, Bill

To those of you that are thinking, know they should, or are trying to quit, here is something that has helped me. First of all you HAVE TO WANT to quit, otherwise forget even trying. Second you have to have some sort of Motivation. I am the type of guy that if I can’t see what good is going to come from Quitting chewing, I just can’t quit. I have tried many many times before, and just didn’t have the right motivation. My Kids and wife are everything to me, and if I can do something to not encourage my kids to even start, than to me it is worth going thru a bit of withdrawl or whatever. Believe me when I tell you that Quitting chewing is NOT easy!! With the support from the guys here, and from my other friends and family, it has been tolerable. Good Luck to everyone!!!

P.S. Since I have quit, I have been eating like a horse. God if it isn’t one thing it’s another.

I ballooned 30 lbs after the first time I quit. I’m on my way up again. Still worth it!

Hey Mike! Try the gum! Get the 4 mg heavy duty stuff and leave that in your mouth all day. Then switch to the 2 mg and after that just gum. Take your time and do it gradual over a month or two or whatever. That might work for you. Plus you don’t have to quit gum. Good Luck!
