What a joke! It sounds like the public could’ve cared less about this ridiculous demonstration.

PETA stages faux death to protest fur

By GAYDA HOLLNAGEL | La Crosse Tribune

Three members of PETA simulated a murder of a woman for her fur coat in downtown La Crosse at noon Wednesday, but the faux violence drew only passing glances from passersby.

The lack of interest from the public may have been due to the cluster of television and newspaper reporters and photographers gathered to witness the act, which included a man bludgeoning a young woman and then stripping her of her coat as she lay on the sidewalk on the corner of Fourth and Main streets, outside of State Bank.

“It’s part of our ongoing anti-fur campaign,” said People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals activist Christy Griffin, who wore a video screen around her middle.

A video purporting to show animals being skinned alive at a fur farm in China prompted a TV camera operator to wonder whether Griffin’s outfit might be “bellyvision.”

The performance was re-enacted at least twice during the hourlong demonstration. According to advance publicity supplied by PETA, the idea behind the dramatization was to raise the question, “What if you were killed for your coat?”

Griffin said several people stopped by or accepted PETA fliers, and one man parked his car and walked back to the corner for a closer look.

Must be nice to not have a job and be able to run around protesting crap.

I guess though, if I didn’t have a job I would be collecting furs to make coats

So why are they protesting in LaCrosse??? Under the photo it mentions they are protesting against a Chinese fur farm that skins cats and dogs alive. I don’t know about you but I haven’t noticed too many people around town wearing dog and cat fur. Here’s a wild idea, maybe they should concentrate their protests on the people who think it’s O.K. to skin a live animal.

    I need a beer.

They better protest hurricanes too…cause they disrupt the infrastructure and can cause water to be contaminated with sewage. The nitrates lead to algea growth beyond sustainable levels decreasing the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water…which kills the fish.

sorry all….been writing a paper on water quality the past two days…who knew you should start writing papers when you still have several weeks to do it rather than 2 days

I guess this would be a bad time to mention that the muskrat tally for the year is now at 97 after this morning. Poor little fellers.

Why didn’t a real person take a baseball bat and bludgeon the PETA activists in front of the cameras so that the heads of PETA would get a good understanding of how people feel about them and their BS.

Anyone walk by wearing therir People Eating Tasty Animals shirt on ????

I have dealt with PETA freaks twice they are in their own misguided world thats for sure. Maybe thats how they landed on the FBI’s terrorist list. How they keep a non profit status is beyond me.

Whos setting up the 1st annual PETA hunt anyway ???
