Gonna be building a house between New Albin and Lansing next spring and was wondering if anybody could steer me towards a good concrete guy…need to dig a hole and pour the basement with plans of putting a modular house on this foundation.
Why would anybody want to become an Iowegian, you ask? For purely financial reasons. Imagine the Mississippi River Valley is a book, with the River the spine of that book. On pages to the right the property taxes are about $4200 for a 1500 sq. ft. house in the country. On the Iowa pages the taxes are maybe $1100.
Right now I am a legal resident of illinois because there is no tax on retiree’s pensions…but I pay Eighty Bucks A WEEK in property taxes and get nothing in return. Rather than pay to educate the kids of some migrant from Chicago to my home NW of Rockford the best option seems to be moving to the Hawkeye state. If i put in a wood boiler for heat and cash in my beer can collection it should be possible to live essentially for free…except for the $100 non-resident Wisconsin guide license, of course.
Anyway, if ya can tell me a reputable concrete guy i would appreciate the input. thanks!
