Too bad we don’t use the electric chair. I would be willing to chip in to pay for the electricity!
This dude needs to fry.
Can we start a pool as to when he gets shanked in prison?
September 16, 2005 at 10:54 pm #384532I have followed this case very closely. I believe his conviction here today will be tossed out. Totally incompetent defense. You don’t let your client take the stand and admit to every crime you are accused of committing!
They will work out some kind of plea agreement or start all over. What a freekin waste of time.

September 17, 2005 at 12:26 am #384526I’m glad I was raised in an area that actually had things like schools, teachers, and grammar classes.
JiraPosts: 517September 17, 2005 at 1:07 am #384543100 trials and this guy will be still found guilty, as he should be.
I tried watching the video of his testimony on the Strib website. I didn’t make it through the whole thing… just made me sick and ticked at the same time. Very sad.
September 17, 2005 at 1:24 am #384544I haven’t followed it at all. I did see the verdict come in today. When I heard he was on the stand…I thought to myself…what happened to all those lawyers they hired? They can’t put him on the stand and expect to win…in this case. I think your are right on the money Jon…
….more to come.
I do feel very sorry for ALL the victims in this…including Vang’s family and friends.
September 17, 2005 at 2:12 am #384555I am from Rice Lake and all those guys I knew personaly. I am very glad the families got there closure. I appreciate everybody standing by our small community. Thanks, Brian Beebe.
September 17, 2005 at 2:45 am #384560Their is a family that lives up the road from us and the wife is the sister of the guy who owned the land and was killed on that day. He is the one that told vang to get out of the stand. This is extremely sad. I am seeing it on TV right now.
September 17, 2005 at 1:14 pm #384590Jon,
I agree. I just shook my head in amazement when the attorney general was asking him if they deserved to die.
He was actually answering the question. I believe he is as guilty as sin but deserved a better defense.September 17, 2005 at 1:25 pm #384591There are just too many wrongs in this whole situation. The greatest is the loss of life over trespassing.
I just don’t get the whole thing.
JiraPosts: 517September 17, 2005 at 2:13 pm #384593I’m sorry, but the mass murderer doesn’t “deserve” anything, except maybe payment with his own life.
Instead, residents of Wisconsin will end up paying $28,622 a year to keep the piece of human trash alive… and that number doesn’t even take into account any additional appeals/hearings/trial expense which dwarf the annual incarceration expense.
September 17, 2005 at 2:43 pm #384602Justice has been served. But will not bring back the lives he took. And will not undo the sadness these families have had to endure of losing their loved ones.
If he was shot at like he said, where are the holes in his body to prove it. I’m sure that all of these hunters were excellent shooters.September 17, 2005 at 3:18 pm #384609With my experience in tirals I really don’t think that he will get another trial. I think he will file an appeal and it will be denied. He admitted guilt on the stand that he shot them and deserved to die…It is a total shame…but he is guilty and got what he deserved.

I cant agree more. Vang was standing there saying that several of the people *deserved to die*, and had explanations why.
$28,622/year to keep him alive…
I think a single $1.25 30-06 shell would be more suitable for the situation… either that or spend the $1.25 on a BOX of .22 shells for the guy.
Electric chair? That would be suitable if its hooked up to a trickle charger and takes a day end his life.
September 17, 2005 at 3:37 pm #384614I have so many thoughts on this story, I am having trouble even writing them. How does a simple trespassing turn into such a grisly crime? What causes a person to lose control so quickly and so severely? I feel for the families and friends of the victims, let us hope that somehow, someday they can find peace and comfort in knowing this man will serve the rest of his life for the crimes he committed. There are so many questions left unanswered in this case.
September 19, 2005 at 1:48 pm #383837Now their crying racism. Out of convenience I say. The crime was clear. It was a monster that did it. Not race, skin color, religion, etc. I only see a monster.
September 19, 2005 at 2:45 pm #384817I also agree with Jon.
I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think this is over.
Is he guilty, I think so, but I don’t think his attorneys did a very good job representing him.
They really didn’t have much to work with though. How can you chase unarmed people down and shoot them in the back and say its self defense?
September 19, 2005 at 5:31 pm #384873I guess i dont understand the whole race issue in this situation. The guy admitted guilt. Everyone knew it plain and simple he was guilty. So what good would it have done too have a hmong or other minority on the jury?? So they could have a hung jury? So they could lock the whole thing up? A hmong on the jury locking everything up….THAT would have been racial because also being a hmong would be the only reason you would want him innocent or ever dream of trying too say he was innocent after he admitted guilt on the stand! I can maybe see arguements in some cases for racism entering in, but surely not here. And your all right, prison is too easy for this guy, and in my mind a single bullet would be too easy also. I wont go where i want too go with what i think should happen because i dont want too get booted off the forum.
September 19, 2005 at 8:09 pm #384913There is really nothing that could have got this guy off in my opinion. He was guilty the minute he was arrested.
Now they are crying racism. I don’t get it. If my own brother killed 6 people, I would want him to go to jail. Not make up some reason why he should get off. We don’t need to call this racism or anything else other than the cold blooded killing it actually was.
I will agree though that when I heard he was taking the stand, I though to myself that it was about the dumbest thing the defense could have done.2Fishy4UPosts: 973September 21, 2005 at 6:14 pm #385304There was an article in the Milwaukee paper yesterday by Eugene Kane who opened the race card, in part by noting no Kmong was on the jury. My response, which is typical and may have offended a few of you in the past was when you shoot three people in the back, you are a stupid [censored] to even try and play the race card. I also cancelled my subscription to the newspaper.
I am not even sure if the article is on tne Net, but for those of you that subscribe check it out and forward your thoughts.
