    All,
we have been kicking around the idea of having another class for conceal carry. Joe Penaz who put on our first class would be the instructor. He did a fantastic job on our first class. We had the class in Hudson at the Rod and Gun Club. With the hunting seasons coming up, let’s see if we can come up with a consensus on what weekend would work. Please feel free to chime in!
The class takes roughly 4 hours, and the shooting profiency test takes place right there. The State of MN is cracking down on the requirements for CC instructors, and Joe has the credentials to conduct the classes in accordance to the new guidelines.

    Chris or Joe,

I’ve heard rumblings about the state changing the requirment of the class…possibly making it a two day class. This COULD take effect as early as Oct…next month. Am I getting bad info?

A nice “perk” that Joe has is if your wife/girl friend ect is interested in taking the instruction…but isn’t sure. They can attend and if, at the end of the class it isn’t for them they don’t pay. If down the road they decide that maybe they do was to pursue a permit…pay the fee and Joe sends out the training certificate. Personally, I’m very happy my wife and daughter went along. It opened their eyes to a number of general safety points.

Chris, I’m thinking that it’s a little miss leading to say the class is 4 hours. The first four hours cover off on how not to shoot yourself and how much trouble you’ll be in if you shoot someone else…granted I’m generalizing here. Then depending on the class size, there’s an hour or two to get everyone through the shooting portion.

Cutting out the socializing, I believe we were there for 6 hours…although my wife and daughter said the time few by.

    Hi Chris,
What changed was for me as an instructor. They just made it harder for some one doing this as a hobby and not reporting taxes to do it.
I will be here in the furture this is a passion for me. The class will still be pretty much the same and I would like to do it at the Hudson club also on a Sunday again.
We just need to pick out a date. I also recomend you bring your wifes, girl friends or both.
You will be amazed at how many of them want to get the permit at the end of the class. You have some one to buy guns for now?? Get it. They only pay if they get the permit.
http://www.concealcarry.net is my website and 612-327-3490 is my cell phone. And yes I am trying real hard to advertize with
In-Depthangeling we gave them the go ahead weeks ago I support you and all you are doing.

Hey Joe, with that kind of demonstated insanity, I am sure my recently acquired permit would be in immediate jeopardy! How about, I bring one or the other?

Ok, here’s a question (or two). If I am from Wisconsin and take this class – am I allowed to carry my gun in MN? In other states that allow conceal and carry? Is Wisconsin ever going to change the law to permit us to carry as well?

Yes you will be able to carry in Mn. There is a good chance that when Wisconsin gets it bill the Minnesota training will work for wisc. I am sure that if you have a MN permit it will include Wissconsin as a cross carry state. You may not even need to get Wisconsin training.
I am already advertizing in Wisconsin on the internet and I have written a Wisconsin course so I will only have to make small modifications when the bill basses. So yes I think wisconsin will get a bill. Go to http://www.packing.org there are other states you will be able to carry with your Wisconsin out of state permit also.

To be clear you will only be able to carry in Wisconsin with your Minisota permit if when Wisconsin gets the carry bill. Cross carry laws only include states with permit laws.

Chris Oct 5th is a Wednesday, did you mean Sat the 8th? Actually the 5th would probably be easier for me to get off as Sat is a regular work day for me. Sundays would be best for me as that is my regular day off but I realize that Sunday might not be best for most.

$125.00 + 30 rounds of ammo for your pistol…and a couple bucks for lunch.

Was there a range fee charge?

Joe, I know a couple folk that would be interested in this form of training. I’m not sure which one would be best for them….. I pulled this from your web site…

NRA BASED COURSES NOW BEING OFFERED

NRA Basic Pistol is a course for newbees to pistols. This would be a great course for those who want to become comfortable around their spouses guns. Cost is $75.
PlaneCents Basic pistol class. Super class for the person with little or no experience with guns. 8 hours including range work (2 hours) this is a good course to get ready for the permit to carry. Cost $75

Ok, I do a lot of classes with newbees, people who have little experience with guns. Many women fit into this category. My basic pistol class takes you from the basics to taking a pistol apart, reassembling it, and then shooting it. Most women go home knowing more about guns than their husbands. This is cool! Trust me guys, you want your wives into guns. If we want to put on a Basic Pistol class, I would love to do it; however, it should be a separate class from the Permit to Carry Class.

I would also like to point out a class that may be of interest called Refuse to be a Victim (the cost is only $25), which my wife and I put on as a community service. This is a great course that teaches people personal protection techniques in many areas. For more information, check out http://www.concealcarry.net.

Joe’s right. Get the spousel unit into guns and the world is yours. Mine even bought her own gun. And if they get into hunting you always have a partner. That has it’s good points and it’s bad though. When I mentioned that I was going to take the course I also mentioned that I would have to buy a carry gun. She says sure go ahead. Come to think of it that might have been a little tooooo eaassssyyyy.
    I’ll have to watch it.

Getting your wife into this is the best!
My wife sleeps in my deer stand with me the night before Deer season opens. How cool? We never seem to get a deer that morning though.
Ok I am a pussy, my stand has heat, insulated windows, shooting slots and cooking. I have nothing to prove any more. But it is right in the middle of my 3000 feet private air strip (1MN2) for you pilots. A deer will always cross that runway sometime any day during the season. .

Ok, this time I buy the lunch. If it is like last time I did not even get to eat. I will make arrangements to cover the lunch for all attending the class. Chris you know these guys better than I do give them a heads up and get me a phone number of the head kahoona to call if you would. Also how’s the Kahr working? I will have my Glock 10mm with the new 6″ hunting barrel on it to try out there, yes it sticks out 2″.
